We look around at the last week of April and are glad that the many shades of green were chosen as the colour to usher in Spring and realize they are a perfect background for the colourful flowers that soon ap- pear. It is at these times when we thank our Creator for the gift of sight, which we take for granted. Just two weeks left to prepare for the annual Art & Craft Show May 9 at the Community Hall by the "Head" U.C.W. and the Hot Lun- cheon at the Island United by "Grace" U.C.W. For display crafts, we understand there is room for more items. I'm sure there is plen- ty of outstanding crafts on the Island that should be shown and ap- preciated. But people are reluctant to give their own names. So if you know of some, will you please call your correspondent, so these people can 'be contacted. This will give pleasure to all. At this time we can give you a preview of some of the expected 'demonstrat "5a fe above func- tion. Country Capers is becoming well known in the world of Folk Art. So-Bonnie Solomon will set up a lit- tle corner in the 'entrance room where she can demonstrate the art. The public will be invited to sit down and try their artistic ability in little make and take items. Of course the usual art display will also hang on the walls. 30 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 28, 1987 Show off your crafts at UCW show Scugog Island Area News by y Mrs. Earl Reader In the big room, Mrs. St. John from Port Perry will be making .sachets and other articles suitable for Mother's Day gifts. ' Pat Mark of the Island and daughters of member June Haynes will demonstrate the making of - grapevine wreaths (a popular item today). "Then we have a former resident at the Foot of the Island who has returned to his Island home with his wife Carol. We welcome Geo. Edgar who is very clever with creating and modelling articles from wood. He taught this art one year at Durham College. At the show he will do various formes of paper cutting. I still prize a paper horse he cut for "me without a flaw in a few seconds, a few years ago. His wife Carol is also a talented person and at this time will illustrate the art of calligraphy. Of course Bonnie will have her usual Boutique with gifts for sale. 'The bake table will have the usual goodies with perhaps candy and packaged gifts for Mothers Day. Of course grandmothers are included here too. Then don't forget the usual plant sale too. Sounds like a full afternoon. So you'd better plan that day well ahead. Oh; yes, how could | forget the popular flea table too? This! is usually within the children's budget. | Seagrave and Area News by Diane Cooke Attention - Seagrave teens, the -Port Perry Kinsmen are having another Teen Dance Friday May 1st in the Kinsmen Hall.
