Welcome Home A warm welcome home to Norm & Bernice Mairs of Nestleton, who have just returned from Largo, Florida, this past week. They report a most enjoyable winter with never a dull moment... many activities were part of living in the sunny south. Glad to see them back at home base...looking fit as a fiddle! Nestleton Presbyterian Church Rev. Fred Swann read again the Easter resurrection as recorded in Matthew, Ch. 28 - Mark 16: Luke 24: and John 20. The spreading of "The Good News" and the impact made on Christian believers, then and to- day, was the basis of the sermon. Miss Alison Scott sang "The Lord's My Shepherd' accompanied by Miss Peggy Scott (flute) and Mrs. Joyce Taylor (organ). beautiful number! The service of baptism is to be held next Suriday, May 3, at the usual hour of 10 a.m. Easter News Walter .and Irma Welts of Nestleton, hosted their family for Easter Sunday celebration. Members included - daughter Bar- bara & Ron Pereman & Lisa of Port Perry, and son Rayner & Kathy Welts, Nicole & Matthew ot Nestleton. The Easter Bunny was there also, and left the children gifts. Great excitement for them looking for the hidden gifts...a hap- py, festive time for all! Henry & Effa Stainton, Williams Point, hosted their family for the Easter celebration on Sunday, April 19...a joyous day for family members. George and Ella Bowers of Nestleton, had a lovely Easter with all members of the family home at various times during the festive season. Those attending were: Ray and Dorothy Carson, Huntsville, Helen Vine, Port Perry, Ralph and Cecile Bowers of Tyrone, Bert and Marilyn Bowers of Oshawa, Con- stable Jerry Bowers, Peterborough, Mal AUTOMOTIVE Arnold and Jean Williams, Nestleton, and Earl Bowers, Nestleton. A nice gathering for the Easter Day celebration. During the Easter season John and Linda Arbuckle and family, visited her grandmother Mrs. Sydney Osler of Burk's Falls. Sun- day guests with John and Linda were Joan & Wayne Hartwick and family from Kincardine, and brother Glen Goslin, Blackstock, and friend Linda Hooper of Oshawa. The first week of April, the John Ar- buckle family were guests of John's brother, Dr. Harold and wife Sharon Arbuckle at Thamesford. Caesarea Card Game At the Wednesday evening card game held in Caesarea Centre and sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary, the lucky winners were: first prize went to Walter Brown with a score of 82. Second prize close behind won by Anne Harran with 80. Low score Brad Enford with 48. Refreshments were provided and served by Charlene Rodgers & Con- nie Lyons. This week as per usual...for fun and an exciting game. Family Interests. Walter & Irma Welts of Nestleton, recently attended the Dialysis workshop - held at the Toronto General Hospital, and found it very interesting, as well as educational. People from all over Ontario were there to learn. Question and answer periods were most important re- the learning procedure. The Sam Cawkers of Scugog Point Rd., were dinner guests with Chas &. Nell Cawker of Scarborough, and son Professor Ken Cawker of Lon- don, this past week and glad to find Chas feeling much better...more like himself once again. He enjoyed the afternoon visiting. Pleased to have Marion Cawker of Manchester, for a lovely visit on Sunday afternoon...enjoyed a cup of tea together and a chit-chat! Hope she will come back again before too long! The Cawkers called on Marion & John Hall on Saturday afternoon. Trust John will be "right as rain" soon...he has had too much il- Iness...but was in good spirits! Our best to him! Nestleton United Church A gratifying attendance for Nestleton United on Sunday morn- ing with Ralph and Leona Sadler ex- tending the greeting at the door. Those who have returned from the south were warmly welcomed. Rev. Some fine hymns were sung closing with a favourite, "Jesus is the Man"...Gwendolyn Malcolm organist. Birthday Party Roy and Doris Nottingham of Caesarea, hosted a lovely birthday dinner with all the trimmings, for daughter, Nancy Nottingham Reid on Easter Monday. Those present for this happy occasion were hus- band Greg Reid and sons, Adam and Robert of Sunderland, friends Mr. and Mrs. Peter Easter from New Zealand, and cousin, Lisa Not- tingham and friend. Our very best wishes to Nancy for many more delightful parties! Cancer Drive Over.. April 30 The Cancer Society Drive for funds is nearing conclusion...win- ding up this Thursday, April 30. We trust all will be finished and kits in. The Society extends warmest thanks to all the volunteers who have worked so very hard for the cause. It is much appreciated! Pancake Breakfast Coming Up A Mothers Day Pancake breakfast will be held in Nestleton Community Centre on Sunday, May 10 from 9a.m. - 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Hall Board. A good attendance is hoped for! Easter Sunday Omission (Due to being short of time...sorry to leave out the following) Nestleton Junior Choir were pleased to have Ken Weir play his synthesizer and Carla Davis play the flute on Easter Winning Secretary Sharron Fisher was the lucky winner of the Port Perry Star's Salute to Secretaries promotion last week. Sharron's name was drawn out of a hat filled with 20 names, and because her name was drawn, Sharron received certificates to David's Hairstyling, Chalen's High Gloss Studio (for a manicure), Gold 'n Glow, and make-up by Joanne Golloher. With Sharron are two of her "bosses," Chuck Willes and Cliff Crowell of Ridge North Realty. P.S. ---- When Sharron has her hair, make-up, nails and tan, the Star will be presenting a "before and after" feature.
