8 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 21, 1987 by Earline Armstrong Roxie Denniston from Windscr spent the Easter weekend with her sister Beth Pereman and family over on Hurd St. Doris Pierce from Oshawa spent "Good Friday" with Mr. and Mrs John Brough and boys on Mikelen Crt. The Friendly Visitors of Prince Anne and Ed Emerson of Nestleton, display some of the beautiful and unusual porcelain which is featured in an on-going show at the Scugog Library until May 8. The show is called "ar- tistry in clay and silver" and includes pieces with crystelline glaze, sawdust fired pieces and Raku-fired works. The Emersons have been creating these works of art for many years and spend most of their time in their studio at Nestleton. Many of the items on display at the library are for sale. On May 2, from 1-4 p.m., the Emersons will be at the library to talk about this unique art form. Albert are holding a Flea Market and Bake Sale on Saturday May 9 from 9:30-3:00. If you are interested in donations to them for this event just leave at Mary Williamson home on 227 Simcoe St., Prince Albert. On Sunday April 19, Florence Smith travelled up to Toronto with Don and Marion Leslie of Seagrave and they all enjoyed the supper hour with Howard and Brenda Krangle. Sorry to report that Georgine Cochrane has been in the hospital in Port Perry. Get better .soon Georgine and all the best. There was a small crowd at the Prince Albert Church on Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock to see Carla McMillian and Tracie Andrews become members of the United Church of Prince Albert. Aillen McMillian and Ella Venning were on hand to see their granddaughter Carla join. Then early Sunday morning a good crowd gathered at Earl Mar- tyn's place for a sunrise service. The young people from Port Perry United and Prince Albert United Churches done the whole service. Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Armstrong were Mr. and Mrs. * Brian Armstrong and girls from, Port Perry and Mr. and Mrs. Bill' McKinnon and Chantilley from Stirling, Ontario. Chantilley stayed to spend the week with her Grand- pa and Grandma. On Thursday Pearl Gostick was busy, her sister Maude Crawford from Newcastle came to call and Maude brought along with her, her son Raymond and his wife Jean from Bobcaygeon, Ontario. ~ Glad to report that Hugh Strong is home from hospital and is staying with his daughter Ruby for a while. Happy Easter Hugh and please stay around, away from those hospitals * we miss you. Mr. and Mrs. Merv Pugh spent the weekend in Trout Creek visiting Ivan and Linda Pugh. Lammie and Peter VanGenhoven from Barber St. enjoyed Easter weekend in Glen Williams visiting relatives and friends. Thursday evening saw eight tables of euchre played at the Prince Albert Hall. On the mens side high was Grant Bright, second was Bert Daniels and low was Ernie Healey (seems to me | saw those men in last weeks paper). Lucky draw prizes were Bert "Daniels and Phyllis Clarke. See you next Thursday April 23 same time, + same place. Bryan, Judy and Phillip Beacock enjoyed Easter Sunday with Mr. Friendly Visitors will hold a Flea Market and Mrs. Les Beacock. Grant 7 Beacock from Oshawa was also there and in the afternoon Don & Marilyn and boys called on the Beacocks. Scugog Institute meet by Connie Haigh, P.R.O. There was a good attendance for the Scugog Island Women's Institute Annual Meeting and installation of officers, with Barbara Ross presiding. District President Alva Thompson installed the new of- ficers. Roll Call was answered with payment of dues, and reports were given by the retiring officers. Delegates to the District Annual, which will be held in Brooklin on May 21st, are Helen Redman, Mary Ostrom, Betty Reader and Bonnie Gerrow. : The Executive for 1987-88 is as follows: Past President - Bai bara Ross, President - Mary Ostrom, 1st DRIVE THE BEST BUY!
