Tykes finish up On Saturday, the boys and girls were out in full force to wrap up a fine year of hockey. The enthusiasm and competitiveness that these kids show on the ice surface is amazing. Not only do they strive to become better hockey players, but they have . the strength to give their best at all times. It is, therefore in appreciation of their efforts, that we wish to con- gratulate these players and thank them for a year well done. This is .a double team competition where - the score of both teams is combin- ed. . Enroute to their victory the Port Perry team defeated teams from Annandale, Uxbridge and Newmarket. The Regionals, which 1s the next level of competition, takes place this coming Saturday, April' 11 at the Lambton Golf & Country Club in Toronto. The girls from Port pressed Oshawa with their strong skating abilities and then capitalized on Oshawa's mistakes to end the game with a 10-5 victory. ~ Scoring for Port were Lisa Levy 5 goals, 2 assists; Nicole Slack 2 goals, 2 assists; Danielle Cooper 1 goal, 4 assists; Christine Mueller 1 goal; Terry Bell 3 assists; Sylvia Durward 2 assists and Heather Lawrence 1 assist. The Allen Aluminum Tweens will finish their season by meeting Mariposa. at Tam Heather, also in Toronto. Also this past weekend, another 'Port Perry team travelled to Union- ville to the Silver Tankard which is a similar competition to the Gover- nor Generals. The Port Perry squad was forced out of competition by a strong Oshawa contingent. Perry's members included: Paul Griffen, Randy Scott, Ted Griffen, Roger Watson and Earl Mayes' team of Ken Jeffrey, Terry Howsam, and Grant Stone. In other news, men's league playoffs are under way this week and this Saturday is the closing Jitney and Dance for the 1987 curl- "ing season. Two medals for Jeff Jeff Little of the Kempo Karate Club of Port Perry had a big day Sunday at the first annual Durham Invitational tournament held at Heydenshore Pavilion in Whitby. Jeff came up with a pair of gold medals in the Under 15 division; a first in Kata and a first in sparring.
