2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 24, 1987 A proposal to locate a garbage truck depot in the hamlet of Man- chester has been halted, much to the relief of residents in that community. The change in plans came about last week after a meeting between Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor, Edgar Brown of Brown's Sanitation Ser- vices and John March, the owner of the commercial lot in Manchester which was to be purchased by Mr. Brown for the storage of garbage trucks. A delegation of Manchester residents appeared before Scugog council March 16 to voice strong ob- Members of the local Birdseye Centre Carvers Club really displayed their talents at the Sport- smen's Show in Toronto recently. Meanwhile, the Mayor said Mr. Brown is still looking for a new site to park his trucks. Contract awarded A Port Perry company has been awarded a contract to supply the town of Whitby with traffic signs in 1987. The contract, worth just over $13,000 was awarded to Provincial Traffic Signs. There were three bids submitted by companies for this contract and the one from Provin- cial 'Traffic Signs was $3700 lower than the nearest competitor.
