The victory gives MoJacks 43 points, three up on second place Ux- bridge, but the Bruins have a game in hand. : The MoJacks were led by team captain Andy Sutch who picked the © Lindsay defense apart for two goals' and three assists, while linemate 'Chris Nicholson netted a pair and chipped in with an assist as well. Paul Goreski tended the nets in .this game, facing 31<shots and he "had to be sharp on several occasions to foil decent Muskie scoring chances. . The other marksmen for Port Perry were Darrin Nesbitt, Jim Lewis, Greg Warriner and Rob : Phinney. Craig Menzies and Brian Steven- son each had two assists to help! the MoJack cause. The MoJacks were never in serious trouble inthis game as they jumped into a quick 3-0 after five minutes of the first period. Lindsay ~ played tough in the corners and scored twice early in the middle frame, but late in the period, Sutch and Nicholson went to work on a power; play and rapped in two more to make it 5-2 after 40 minutes. Ear- ly in the third, Lewis and Warriner scored to put the game well out of reach. : The Muskies final two goals came in the dying minutes when the Mo- Jacks were short-handed. Scoring for the visitors were Dave Kearns, Steve Black, Scott Hamilton, and Bill Quackenbush. © The game was chippy almost from the opening face-off and tempers really flared mid way through the third period when several players on each side were ejected for fighting. Lindsay captain Dave Kearns will be on the sidelines for at least two games when he levelled Greg Warriner and took a five minute slashing major. Kearns then became involved in a fight with Clay Dempsey and the Lindsay cap- tain wound up with a double game misconduct for his efforts. Other scraps included Darrin Nesbitt and Dave Webster, Len Giacalone and Andrew Campbell, and Jim Lewis and Bucky Adams. MoJack defenseman Jim Lewis tiirnéd in a great game. He moved the puck crisply from his own zone, chipped in with a goal on a shot from just over the blue line after taking a nice pass from Brian Stevenson. The MoJacks fired 41 shots at Lindsay netminder Phil Callaghan, 13 in the first period. In all, there was a total of 110 penalty minutes, 57 to Lindsay and 53 to the MoJacks. Lindsay is currently in the cellar in the Crowley Division and if the MoJacks can hang onto first place, they will face each other in the open-- ing Tound of the playoffs. MoJacks pay a visit to Lindsay for a game this coming Friday night, then on Sunday night (Feb. 1) they will host the Little Britain Mer- chants at the Scugog Arena with face-off at 7: 30 P- m. a Luck changes for Port boys On Friday, January 23 the J.T. Pearce Novice No. 1 team were matched up against Stouffville. In the past Port Perry hasn't had much luck against this team but that was about to change! Stouffville took a short lived lead late in the 1st period but with 49 seconds to go Port's Kenton LeFort 'tied up the game with wingman Timmy Fitzpatrick and defenceman Jay King assisting. Stouffville took the lead again in ~ the 2nd period but 30 seconds Tater - a very hard working Jeremey Geer blasted the puck between the pipes after picking up a super pass from defenceman Matt Morris. With 15 seconds left in the 2nd period Ken- ton LeFort put Port in the lead when he put his second of the night right between the goalie's legs off a perfect pass by defenceman Jay King. Nice work boys! This was a really outstanding game as the J.T Pearce Auctioneers were in all the right places at the right time!' To complete a very busy weekend the Auctioneers travelled to Lindsay Sunday night to play what turned out to be a slower paced game. Tonight's game belonged to goaltenders Scot Prechitko and Brandon Hammond as they became a virtual shooting gallery for Lind- say. Although they tried hard Port's defence and offence just couldn't seem to keep it out of their zone so Both goaltenders were "totally awesome' as they made countless outstanding saves but their hard work just wasn't enought to win the game for Port as they were defeated 6-2. Port's 1st goal came off the stick of a truly super hockey player Jay Tredway as he blasted the puck past the Lindsay netminder. With well earned assists going to Ryan 'Williams and Timmy Fitzpatrick. Port's final goal came in the 3rd period as Billy Zaparanuik out manoeuvered the Lindsay offence and made a perfect pass to Sandy Mark who put it in the net! Nice work boys. On Friday the Novice No.l's thavel to Cobourg for the final game in the regular season.
