The Lakers opened up against Bobcaygeon and Ron Jeffrey started the scoring with Bob Tarbot- ton and Ted Blanchard assisting. Bobcaygeon tied it up. Then the Lakers popped three straight goals and never looked back. Bob Tarbotton scored from Ron Jeffrey and Ken Smart followed by Ron Jeffrey's second from Tar and then Ray Zaparanuik from Teddy Blanchard. Mike Driscoll rifled home Scugogs final goal from Carl Fitzgerald. The Lakers took the opener 5-2 and Pete Naumienko earned the victory in goal for the Lakers. The Remax Lakers next took on" the Coboconk Devils and this was to be the Bob Tarbotton show as he racked up all four Lakers goals on the way to the 4-3 win. On Saturday January 17 the Brutons 1.D.A. Petites hosted Scar- boro, the top team in the league, Port once again came out on the los- ing side with a score of 7-2. The girls worked hard in this game but just couldn't connect the ring past the Scarboro goalie. Amy Parliament played in net for the se- ~ cond time this year. Playing against such a.strong team as Scarboro, Amy played exceptionally well and - 'made some good stops in the net! Scoring for Port was Denna . Lovering and Kelly Menzies with 1 goal each. Scoring. for Port was Lyndsay The Allen Aluniinim Tweens took Sunderland by surprise on Saturday night as they bombarded them with . 5 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game. When Port Perry let up the pressure, the teams exchanged 4 goals for. a final score of 94. Smar- tie had 2 assists and Ron had 3 assists while setting up Tar. Greg Mills had a strong game on defence and collected, 2 points and Bob Lee was as steady as ever and collected 1 point along the way. With a 4-0 lead tke Lakers watched a stubborn Devils club battle back: with 3 straight goals of their own but the Lakers weren't to be denied and hung on to a 43 victory. ~ Game three on Sunday at noon saw the Lakers up against Aurora and with a skeleton staff due to Sun- day morning hockey the Lakers took this one 3-1 Scoring early for the Lakers was Jim "Heads Up" Beatty on a pret- ty pass from Ken Smart and Ron Jeffrey. Ron put us up 2-0 ten "minutes later with Ken Smart assisting. Aurora came back to within one but Mike Driscoll found the scoring touch again when he buried a four footer into the empty Dutkewich with 3 goals, 1 assist, Denna Lovering 2 goals 3 assists. Tanya Towns 1 goal, 3 assists, Chrissy Hicken 1 goal, Jennifer Morden, Kim Poppleton, and Shan- non Fox each with one assist. There was quite a few assists in this game and it is good to see the girls passing the ring. : Port girls will have to work hard on keeping possesion of the ring and . not letting the other team have it.
