2: -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, January 6, 1987 NOVICE 'Three games were played last week in the Novice House League, with the Van Camp team recording their first win of the season. Port Perry Printing registering a shut- out win and Kinsmen winning their fourth game in a row. Van Camp Contracting - 8 . David's Hairstyling - 4 The Van Camp team jumped into a 3-0 lead after the first period and then went on to the victory. Darryl Bourgeois scored 3 times and add- ed a pair of assists, with Jeff Grif- fin scoring a pair. Kristian Wootten had a goal and an assist, and Scot Prechitko and Scott Swain had single markers. Stephen Hiemstra and Ryan Larmer each had one assist, Matt Brown notched a hat-trick for David's, and assisted on Ken Taylor's goal. Kent also assisted on one of Matt's goals. . Both teams played a real defensive game of hockey with both teams making some excellent rushes. Dec. 29, 1986 'Marj Tripp Realty 3 UAW. 3 This was an exciting game from" opening face off till the final buzzer. - Marj Tripp opened the period on a shot from Adam McTaggart, with Ricky Olaisen and Graham Holt assisting. U.A.W. came right back on a goal by Ryan Ridgway, with Jeff Flet- cher and Todd Moore earning the assists. Marj Tripp scored two in the se- cond period, Ricky Olaisen from Graham Holt and Mike Nichols and Graham Holt from Adam McTag- gart and Wad® Sheedy. U.A.W. did rally in the third period and Jeremy Norton scored two assists on both going to Ryan Ridgway and Dereck Ander- son. Garfield LeFort in between the pipes for U A.W. made some ex- cellent saves to end the game in a tie. Dec. 31, 1986 Whitby Auto Wreckers 6 Port Perry Lions 2 Whitby Auto Wreckers went on the scoreboard on a goal from Rit- chie Tripp assisted by Brandon Puckrin and Alan Calder. Port Perry Lions tried everything - hut couldn't put one past Greg Rankin in net ior Whitby. The next three goals for Whitby were scored by Chad Venning giving him a hat - trick, Mike Labanovich picked up 3 assists, 'Mike Pothier picked up 2 assists and Neil Hancock one. Mike Labanovich scored on a pass. from Nickie Beare and Brandon Puckrin. Brandon Puckrin scored for Whitby on a pass from Ritchie Tripp and Andrew Pereman to end the second period. The third period belonged to Port Perry Lions who tried desperately to tie the game. Sean Gawley scored two for the Lions assists going to Ian McClelland and Mike Staniland; Brad Strickert and Kevin Ellis. Jan. 2, 1987 Marj Tripp Realty 6 + Lake Scugog Limber 4 Lake Scugog opened the game on a goal by Karen Kett assisted by Toby Shewan and Kevin Pearce. * Marj Tripp bounced right back and scored 2 quick ones. Kent Jamieson from Darrin Hope and David Holt; Darrin Hope from Kent. Jamiesoh and Adam McTaggart. Kevin Pearce tied it for Lake Scugog at the end of the first assisted by Steve Kyte and Toby Shewan. Marj Tripp scored the on- ly goal in the second period; Darrin Hope his second from Adam McTag- gar and Troy Hope." In the third period Ricky Olaisen scored from Graham Holt and Wade Sheedy. Marj Tripp scored another quick one this time Darrin Hope for his third to earn the hat trick for the game, Kent Jamieson and Ricky Olaisen assisting. Lake Scugog never gave up and came back with 2 quick ones - Steve Stilles from Steve MacDonald and Kevin McGrisken; Karen Kett her second from Dale Bradbury and An- drew Jones. For the next few minutes it was very tense as Lake Scugug pulled their goalie in an ef- fort to tie the game. Unfortunately Marj Tripp scored on a shot by Ricky Olaisen assisted by Mike Nichols and Stephen Gilbert to end a well played game. Gord Lewis Motors 9 UAW. 8 Gord Lewis scored the first two goals with Louis Whitfield firing both of them with Matt Coyne and Mark Jansen assisting on the first; and Clay Scott. and Mike Pugh assisting on the second. U.A.W. scored the next three goals; Ryan Ridgway firing one and, " Jeremy Norton the other two. Ryan Ridgway picked up two assists, Jeremy Norton, Jeff Fletcher, Dereck Anderson, and Rob Romano picking up singles. Louis Whitfield scored his fifth goal of the game assisted by Clay Scott and Mark Jansen. U.A.W. came back on a goal by Jeremy Norton assisted by Rob McEachern and Ryan Ridgway. U. A.W. tried all in the book but could not tie the game. Remember boys and girls no games until Jan. 17, 1987, but do remember your practises. PEE WEE January 3, 1987 - Larocque 3 - Scala Bros. 10 Scala Bros. notched their biggest win league leading Larocque Electric. Goal scorers for Scala were Brian Magill with 2 goals, Chris McGill with 3 goals, and 3 assists, Don Hughes with 3 goals, Phil Edgar with 1 goal and 2 assists, Daryl Alex- ander with 1 goal and 1 assist, Cliff LeFort, Ben Blanchard and Jason Oram each picked up 1 assist. Scoring for Larocque's were ° Kevin Busher with 1 goal and 2 assists. Jeff Labanovich 1 goal and f the season knocking off Minor Hockey House league Peter Simms with 1 goal. Consumers Gas 7 - Emiel's Place 3 After the first Emiel's Place had a 3-2 lead but Consumers Gas ex- ploded with 5 straight goals beating Emiels 7-3. Scoring for Consumers were Heath Hudson leading the way with 3 goals and 1 assist. Ritchie . Stapleton 2 goals, Sam Mason 1 goal and 1 assist. Cory Mason 1 goal and 2 assists and 2 assists going to Ryan Picard. Scott Foster scored all three goals for Emiels with Jeff Kemp getting 2 assists. BANTAM IGA 6 - Franks 5 I.G.A. recorded its first win of the year by defeating Franks 6-5: .G.A. scoring Jason Bertrand 2 goals, 2 . assists, Paul Kett 2 goals, 1 assist, Chris McConnell 1 goal, 1 assist and - Emit Burton 1 goal, Peter Brock 23 assists, Jamie Mabley 1 assist. Franks scoring John Rodway 4 goals, 1 assist, Chris Ball 1 goal, 1 assist, Brad Bricknell 2 assists and Vince Criscione 1 assist. Cochranes 2 - Emmersons 2 Emmersons jumped out to a 2-0 lead but Cochranes fought back to tie the game 2-2. Cochranes séoring John Rodway and Aaron Cochrane with an assist going to Mike Butt. Emmersons scoring Darcey Head 2 goals with assists going to: Chris Cooper and Chris McConnell. Atom H.L. teams at tournament Whitby Auto" Wreckers faced some stiff competition from the Grafton team and were defeated 3-1. This gave them the opportunity to go to the B side of the tournament. Gord Lewis Motors played in the Newcastle Atom Tournament," December 30. The boys met stiff op- position from Oshawa's Albert Street Team in their first game. The final score was 10-2 in favor!of Albert Street. Lewis first riod goal was scored by Kevin Pearce, assisted by Mark Cosway and Graham Holt. Second period goal by Stephen Parish, unassisted. The loss put the team in- to the consolation round:where they met Whitby Auto Wreckers of the Port House League. This hard fought and exciting game resulted in a 5- 4 Whitby win. -- 1987' s New Year Resolution ---- -- LOSE WEIGHT 'Lewis led throughout the game, but __ a last minute goal.in the third by Whitby, forced overtime. Lewis missed the empty net in their attempts but- Whitby hit the mark to secure the win. - For Gord Lewis, Mark Cosway had 1 goal and 3 assists, Louis Whit- ~ field with a hat trick: (2 short hand- ed), David Holt and Paul Bycok - with 1 assist each. -Danny Bycok played a strong game in net, mak- * ing numerous outstanding saves: Lewis would like to thank David and Graham Holt and Kevin Pearce for their tournament participation.
