This was an excellent game with both teams evenly matched. There were three periods of end to end rushes and superb goaltending. Kevin Pearce scored for Lake Scugog at the 8:07 mark of the se- cond period unassisted. Final score after three periods was Lake Scugog Lumber 1 - Newcastle 0. Kyle Simms in goal for Lake' Scugog won the game "Puck Award" for his outstanding stand- up goaltending. December 12, 1986 Gord Lewis Motors 2 Marj Tripp Realty 1 Stephen Parish opened the scor- ing for Gord Lewis Motors with assists going to Mark Cosway and John Hall. Marj Tripp had some ex- cellent opportunities but couldn't put it by Danny Bycok in goal for Gord Lewis. Stephen Parish fired No.2. Mike Pugh feds pass from the prone 0 Dag to Stephen ie snapped a high shot into the corner. In the final seconds of the game Marj Tripp's Ricky Olaisen scored with assists going to Wade Sheedy and Graham Holt. Whitby Auto Wreckers 1 U.AW.1 This was a super effort on both teams with 21% periods of hockey and no scoring. Whitby scored on a good shot by Andrew Pereman, Chad Venning and Brandon Puckrin earning the assists. In the final minutes of play U.A.W.'s Rob McEachern fired one past Greg Rankin who played good in goal for Whitby Auto Wreckers. Ryan Ridgway and Rob Romano receiv- ed the assists. Garfield LeFort bet- ween the pipes for U.A.W. made some excellent stops to keep the score to U.A.W. 1 and Whitby Auto Wreckers 1. Port Perry Lions 3 Lake Scugog Lumber Co. 3 Port Perry Lions scored early in the first period on a wrist shot from Mike Tripp, Kevin Ellis and Ian McClelland picking up the assists. Mike Staniland scored again for Lions, Josh Wilson and Brad Strickert assisting. Lake Scugog didn't give up and scored an important goal in the final seconds of the first period, Toby Shewan from Karen Kett and Kevin Pearce. The second period went scoreless with both teams playing hard and receiving excellent goaltending - Craig Dale for the Lions, Kyle Simms for Lake Scugog Lumber. Toby Shewan scored his second of the game with Mike Tripp and Kevin Pearce earning the assists. Kevin Pearce scored the go ahead goal for Lake Scugog, with Toby Shewan and Karen Kett assisting. Kevin Ellis tied the game on a bullet drive, with Sean Gawley and Mike Leach setting up the play. Saturday, December 13, 1986 UAW. 5 Lake Scugog Lumber Co. 0 Jeremy Norton started U.A.W. off with a goal on a pass from Jeff Flet- cher and Garfield LeFort. The re- mainder of the first period had end to end action and many good stops by both goalkeepers. Kyle Simms for Lake Scugog and Brad Lemioux for UAW. Jason Dunkley scored the second U.A.W. goal on a rink wide pass from Rob McEachern and Rob Romano. U.AW 's Jeremy Norton scored his second of the game, with Derek Anderson and Benn Lewis assisting. Lake Scugog Lumber had many scoring opportunities but were robb- ed numerous times by the outstan- ding goaltending of U.A.W.'s Brad Lemioux. Ryan Ridgway scored a pair of goals in the third period for U.AW. with Jeremy Norton assisting on both of them with Derek Novice House League Anderson and Todd Moore picking up the others. Marj Tripp Realty 4 Port Perry Lions 0 This was an exciting and fast moving game as they went two periods without a goal and then Rick Olaisen for Marj Tripp slid one under the stick of Craig Dale for the Lions. Kent Jamieson and Stephen Gilbert receiving the assists. Darrin Hope came right back and scored another for Marj Tripp with Rick Olaisen and Kent Jamieson assisting. Port Perry Lions pressed hard but could not find the target. Kent Jamieson scored for Marj Tripp, Mike Nichols and Wade Sheedy making the pass. Marj Tripp's Rick Olaisen scored his second goal with Adam McTaggart and Troy Hope picking up the assists. Gord Lewis Motors 3 Whitby Auto Wreckers 2 Whitby Auto scored the first, with Chad Venning finding the open cor- ner and Ritchie Tripp and Neil Han- cock assisting. Gord Lewis came right back on a goal by Mark Cosway, Louis Whit- field and Matt Coyne picking up the assists. The game remained tied un- til well into the second period when Mike Pashley scored on a well ex- ecuted play by Mike Pugh and Dar- ryl Slack. In the last minutes of the second period Mark Cosway fired his se- cond for the day with Mark Jansen and Clay Scott earning the assists. Whitby Auto Wreckers Mike Pothier scored with seconds left to go, with Chad Venning and Ritchie Tripp assisting. Thus ended some more exciting hockey from the Atom House League. Two close games for the Malmont Atoms On December 5, 1986 the Malmont Farm Atoms hosted Stouffville at the Scugog Arena only to be disap- pointed with a 6-5 loss. In the first period both clubs only scored once as they seemed to be feeling each other out. Scoring for the Green Machine was Steve Desautels assisted by David Pashley and Chad Garvock. The second period saw a little more action as each club doubled the first period scoring by scoring two more goals on each other. Scor- ing for the Malmont Atoms was Jeff Andrews assisted by Sean McEnaney and Chad Garvock. At the 54 second mark, Adam Johnston scored assisted by Lindsay Party. In the third period the Malmont Atoms seemed to fall asleep as n'*-ille opened the period with 3 Mise goals. In the dying minutes the Green Machine caught fire as they popped two goals but ended the game on the short side of a 6-5 loss. Scoring for the Atoms was Jeff Card (first goal as a Green Machine), assisted by Peter King. The final goal was scored by Peter King assisted by Jeff Andrews. ~ On Friday, December 12, 1986 the Malmont Atoms travelled to Stouff- ville to play another league action game. With visions of the previous week's game still in their minds, the Malmont Atoms came out flying, playing a solid 3 period game to skate to a 5-2 victory. In the first period the Green Machine opened with two unanswered goals. Scoring at the 5:23 mark was Duane Empringham assisted by Scott Heasman and Jeff Andrews. At the 2:52 mark, Steve Desautels scored assisted by Gavin Cochrane and Sean McEnaney. In the second period the Green Machine skated hard but could on- ly manage to score once. Scoring for the Atoms was Jeff Card assisted by Jeff Andrews. The third period belonged to the Malmont Atoms as they showeu lots of hustle, good back checking anda real team desire to win. The Atoms popped two more goals to finish the well played game with a 5-2 victory. Scoring at 13:23 was Sean McEnaney assisted by Jeff Andrews and Chad Garvock. At 2:19 Steve Desautels scored the final goal, his second of the game, assisted by Chad Garvock and Gavin Cochrane.
