D2 PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 2, 1986 -- 45 Survey recommends a full time Fire Chief The Fire Underwriters Survey carried out last May says Scugog Township should consider appoin- ting a full-time fire chief. The report, which was tabled at Monday's meeting of Township says that while the "administration of the fire department appears to be generally good," the appointment of a full-time chief would strengthen certain important functions of the department. The recommendation that the Township appoint one full-time chief is nothing new. The Fire Marshall's office has also suggested that Scugog consider this as well. In other recommendations, the Survey says the Township should replace the 1962 pumper truck now in service at the Port Perry Hall with a modern triple combination pumper having capacity for at least 840 gallons per minute. . Council took no action on the recommendations, 'but they have been sent for comment to the two chiefs. : Approve street lights Finally, the provincial Highways Department has given permission to Scugog Township to have street lights installed at two dangerous in- tersections in the Township. Street lights will be going up soon at the corner of Durham Road 8 and Highway 12; and at the corner of Durham 57 and Highway 7A (en- trance to Caesarea).
