| s 28 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 2, 1986 Minor Hockey House league NOVICE Action over the past two weeks has resulted in close scores in all of the six games played. The sum- maries are as follows: Port Perry Printing 4 Remax Realty 4 In this game Remax held a 3-1 lead halfway through, but Port Perry Printing battled back to salvage a 4-4 tie. Matt Mantel had 2 goals for Printing, with Kirk Swain and Robert Gracie netting singles. Todd Parry and Jeff Griffin had assists. For Remax, Ian McCready fired two, Jamie Trick had a goal and an assist, and Jon Jamieson had a goal. David's Hairstyling 5 Van Camp Contracting 4 This game was a see-saw match all the way through, with the Van Camp lads again coming up just a little short. Matt Brown pumped home all five goals for David's, Kent Taylor assisting twice, Mark Turnbull and Brandon Hammond one each. Dar- ryl Bourgeois and Scott Prechitko each had a pair for Van Camp. Ryan Larmer helped out once. Swamp Auto Body 3 Kinsmen 2 In this game the Kinsmen opened and closed the scoring, but Swamp sandwiched three goals in between to eke out the win. Greg Pugh scored twice for Swamp, Matt Hobbs once. Matt also had an assist, as did Darren Kin- nunen. Darryl Moase got both Kinsmen goals. David's Hairstyling 6 Swamp Auto Body 4 David's jumped into a quick 2-0 lead and then cruised to the victory. Matt Brown hit for four markers, and added an assist. Jeremy Stevens had a goal and an assist, Jeff Clarke a goal, and David Jansen an assist. For Swamp, Darryl McEnaney led the way with two goals and an assist. Greg Pugh and Steve Cochrane had singles, and Jerry Blackburn had an assist. ~ Remax Realty 5 Kinsmen 4 In this game Remax took a 4-0 lead and then hung on to edge a determined Kinsmen squad -- Matt A MEMBERSHI A Gift that will last ... at ... Jamie Trick got two assists, lan McCready, Jon Jamieson, Ryan Diceman, and Jason Robinson, each one assist. For Kinsmen, lan Shrigley had two goals and an assist, Jason Brain goal and an assist, Tony Waldriff a goal, and Shawn Lewerentz an assist. Port Perry Printing 5 Van Camp Contracting 3 Van Camp took an early 2-0 lead in this game but couldn't hang on. For Port Perry Printing, Kirk Swain and Matt Mantel each had a pair of goals, Brad Shanley getting the other. Todd Parry had three assists, Jeff Griffen one. Van Camp's goals were scored by Darryl Bourgeois, Jason Logan, and Scott Prechitko. Scott also had an assist, as did Scott Swain. ATOM U.AW. 4 Port Perry Lions 2 Kevin Ellis opened the scoring for Port Perry Lions on a breakaway pass from Jason Philips. This was a great period with lots of passing and end to end rushing by both teams. U.A.W. came back in the second period with Robert McEachern put- ting the rubber between the pipes with Jason Dunkley earning the assist. Ryan Ridgway scored another quick goal for U.A.W. with the assists going to Robbie Romano and Brad Lemieux. Kevin Ellis evened the score, scoring his second goal of the game with Sean Gawley and Ian McClelland picking up the assists. U.A.W. went ahead on a powerplay goal by Jeremy Norton, assisted by Robert McEachern and Jason Dunkley. With thirteen seconds to go in the game U.A.W.'s Ryan Ridgway scored his second with Robbie Romano gaining the assist. This was a super game with ex- cellent goalkeeping by Mike Tripp for the Port Perry Lions and Derek Anderson for U.A'W. Brandon Puckrin scored again for Whitby Auto Wreckers, assists go- ing to Nicki Beare and Ritchie Tripp. - Kent Jamieson for Marj Tripp Realty came right back and kept them in the contest firing one past Greg Rankin in goal for Whitby Auto Wreckers. This was an exciting game as the score remained 2-1 for over two periods. Darin Hope in goal for Mar} Tripp Realty and Greg Rankin for Whitby Auto Wreckers made some excellent saves. James Patterson and Ricky Olaisen for Marj Tripp had excellent opportunities when the puck hit the goal post and stayed out. Mike Labanovich scored the third goal for Whitby Auto Wreckers with Chad Venniiug and Neil Hancock earning the assists. In the final stages of the period Chad Venning scored his second of the game with the assists going to Mike Pothier and Alan Calder. This was an excellent game with everyone playing their positions well. Scugog Lumber 5 Gord Lewis 2 Lake Scugog defeated Gord Lewis 5-2 in a game that offered numerous scoring opportunities. Superb goaltending by Kyle Simms dwarfed Lewis attacks time and time again. Danny Bycok played stand-up hockey in goal for Lewis. Tobe Shewan collected a hat trick, Kevin Pearce 2 goals and 2 assists, Karen Kett 2 assists for Scugog. Lewis goals scored by Mark Cosway and Louis Whitfield with the assists going to Matt Coyne, Paul Bycok, Mark Jansen and Clay Scott. PEE WEE Scala 4 -- Consumers 4 Consumers opened the scoring with 2 goals by Heath Hudson with assists going to Scott Airey and Mike Bardilebew. Chris McGill scored for Scala Bros. assisted by Phil Edgar. Consumers scored 2 goals with Heath Hudson completing his hat trick and Mike Bardilebew scoring with Ryan Picard assisting on both games. Scala Bros. trailing 4-1 came back with Donny Hughes scoring 2 quick goals with assists going to Ben Blan- chard and Daryl Alexander. Then Kevin Busher tied the game at 4 with the assists going to Chris McGill and Jason Oram. Emiels 2 -- Scala Bros. 4 Scala Bros. opened a three goal lead with Donny Hughes scoring unassisted. Chris McGill notched one with Brian Magill assisting. Then Brian Magill made it 3-0 assisted by Daryl Alexander. Jeff Kemp scored 2 goals for Emiels to make it closer with Steven Slade and Scott Foster assisting. Then Phil Edgar closed out the scor- ing with Jason Oram assisting. Consumers Gas 2 Larocque Electric 5 Consumers opened the scoring with Heath Hudson from Coray Mason. Then Larocque Electric sparked, scoring 5 straight goals. Mike Hep- burn scoring from Rich Stapleton, Dave Volman, from Rich Stapleton, then Peter Simms from Rich Stapleton. Shawn Larocque then scored unassisted. Then late in the third period Jeff Labanov ich rounded out the scoring on an unassisted effort. BANTAM 'Cochranes 5 -- Franks 3 Cochranes borrowed a Pee Wee goalie -- Mike Payne, thanks Mike, who played very well for them on The Canadian Tire Midget 2's game on Monday night of the previous week was like a chess match. It looked like it was a mat- ter of who took the advantage when they had it, and the Canadian Tire boys did just that -- Checkmate. Jeff Oke who received a pass and worked himself in over the blue line, fed the puck to Jamie Menzies who drilled a shot at the goalie and Keith Roberge jumped on the rebound 1-0 ~ for Port Perry. Newcastle came back two minutes later on some hard work and tied the game. Then Mike Gibson scored after taking a good pass from David Ir- vine, Blair Phillips did some handy work in the corners, to get the puck to David Irvine -- 2-1 Port after one period. Newcastle came out in the second period and didn't take long to tie at 2-2. Then midway in the second period, with Rick King clearing the puck to Jamie Menzies who in turn sent Mike Gibson on his way to scor- ing his second of the night. But Newcastle were not to be denied as they proceeded to tie the game up at 3-3. Newcastle figured they would come out hitting, with the Tiremen - down two spares forward and defencemen, and they did just that, Junior their way to victory over Franks 5-2. Cochrane scoring Alec Cranmer 3 goals, Mike Butt 2 goals, Aaron Cochrane and Paul Kett 2 assists each and Chad Prentice 1 assist. Franks scoring John Rodway 1 goal, 2 assists, Adam Danter and Vince Criscione 1 goal each. Emmerson's 8 -- 1.G.A. 0 Emmersons Darcy Head led the team with 4 goals to record the win 8-0 over 1.G.A. Emmersons other scoring Doug Adams 3 goals, Kevin Puckrin 1 goal, Ron Hulligan 3 assists, Chris Lergun, Greg Logan and Mike Toye each had one assist. Checkmate, guys But the boys on the Canadian Tire team returned the favour and hit back, not only did they hit back, they started to put the puck in the net too! Mark Elliott took a pass from the corner "Gibby" at the point drove a low shot, that David Irvine was able to tip in. Halfway into the third period Keith Roberge broke in, shot the puck which the goalie stopped but only to have Blair Phillips knock it home. Newcastle then started to put pressure on us, and the boys stood their ground, till Mark Elliott set up Mike Graham who in turn fed a pass to Jamie Menzies, who made no mistake in scoring. On December 8, we will have Orono in town, and the boys are looking forward to this one, it will be a dandy too.
