Blackstock and Area News by Joyce Kelly A very pleasant afternoon family tea was held on Sunday at the home of Marg and Ted Kemp and boys when over sixty members of the - VanCamp family gathered in honour of Madame Justice M.M. VanCamp. It is indeed hard to realize that fifteen years have passed since Mabe] became the first _ Ontario Judge of the fair sex. The members of her immediate family presented her with a silver tea ser- vice while other members of the VanCamp clan gave her a luggage set to mark this happy occasion. Congratulations Mabel from your many, many friends from your home town. Our area has too many patients in hospitals these days. Better health is wished for Floyd Argue in Toron- to Hospital and to Jean Mountjoy, Susie Harris, Josie Archer, Annie Ecclestone, Florence Larmer, Deb- bie Bauer. Ev Trewin and Bill Johnston who are all in Port Perry Hospital. Remember the United Church Auction Sale which will be held in the Recreation Centre on Saturday, December 6. Harold and Josie Hamilton at- tended the funeral of their very close friend Bernard Forest of Oshawa, formerly a resident of Caesarea on Saturday. On Wednesday evening the Depu- ty District Governor Harold Har- rison made his official visit to the Blackstock and District Lions Club. He presented a 15 year perfect at- tendance award to Ray Wright and also the Past President Award to Ernie Swain. The Floor Hockey results on November 18 was a high scuring game of Black 13 - Maroon 10. Scorers for Black - Jay Buma - 6, Martin Stubbs 4, Jason Cliff 2, Mike Hepburn 1; Scorers for Maroon - Brendon Agnew 4, Mike Leach 3, Chris Chorostecki 3. On the weekend Jim Marlow, Carl Adams and Dale Davis attended the Men's Conference at Camp Quin- Mo-Lac. In Dale's absence the Rev. Don Tansley was the guest minister in the Sunday morning service. He preached a fine sermon on "Temp- tations of the Righteous." Glenn Larmer sang a great solo, "I Walk- ed Today Where Jesus Walked." At the regular meeting of the Blackstock Co-operative Nursery Christmas Pageant this Sunday Seagrave and Area News by Kaaren Johnston At the outset, I would like to ex- ~ tend belated birthday greetings to our daughter Kim who turned 17 on the 21st of November and also to Matthew Bruce, who turned three on November 23rd. Plans were finalized for the float for the Santa Claus Parade at Port Perry this coming Saturday, November 29 and for the Pancake Breakfast With Santa which will be held on Sunday, December 7th at the Rec Centre. At the next general meeting Christine Stevenson will be the guest to speak on toy safety -- a very suitable topic at this time of year. Jim and Barbara Sleep have returned home from a fabulous holi- day to Mexico. Congratulations Jim on winning this trip in your work. Auxiliary On Monday, Oct. Hospital Auxiliary held their meeting with 23 ladies present. The president opened the meeting with all repeating the Auxiliary prayer in unison. Mr. Brown was then asked to speak, as he had another meeting to attend. He has asked the Auxiliary if they could purchase a portable X- ray machine, there was a discussion on this, and all agreed the Auxiliary would get this machine, as this would be one of our projects. The president then asked for the treasurer's report, which was given by Camille, in the absence of Pat Taylor. Irene Carter reported for the Adult Volunteers, and said things were going well. Thelma then asked for everyone "to save all their postcards which can be used by the "Take 5 Group." These cards can be left at the Tuck Shop in the hospital Hazel Coates, wool convenor has wool on hand, and the ladies aux- iliary hank all the ladies who again sent in lovely knitted articles, which can be seen in the Tuck Shop. A good place to do some Christmas shopping, ladies. Under new business a lengthy discussion followed, re- our upcom- ing bake and craft sale, being held in the front of the hospital on Fri. Nov. 28th at 11:30 a.m. We would be pleased to receive baking from anyone or organization in the community, as this is a very worthwhile cause. We will be also having a Doll draw at our next auxiliary meeting being held Mon. Dec. 8th at the hospital. The dolls are on display at present in Irwin Smith's music store window. A motion was then made by Lu- cienne, and seconded by Thelma that we adjourn. A lovely cup of tea and goodies - were then served by Marie and Mary. Crawford preaching on 'Spiritual Awakening' using text II Timothy 1-9. Daniel Pugh Jr. read from Mat- thew 17 re- the work of John the Bap- tist. Kathy Tromans and Rev. Crawford sang a lovely number "Living For Jesus." A duo- Anne Maschke and Kathleen Watt played for the service. Next Sunday, Holy Communion will be observed.
