Parkes is currently on view in the gallery of Brush Strokes at 40 King Street West in Oshawa. Ap- propriately titled "Images of Spain," the exhibition contains a selection of works revealing a very personal reflection on portions of a trip which the artist made to that country in 1985. Often candid, there are il- lustrative comments on certain in- consistancies of Spain which took his fancy but are generally not in- cluded in tourist posters, such as: anti-Reagan graffiti on walls of Cer- vantes' famed La Mancha; a cigarette-puffing merchant leading his insensitive burro past a scrawl- ed pronouncement of a local com- edy; a swarthy young Spanish sailor unloading trays of sardines on the greasy docks of Fuengirola before a backdrop of highrises at sunrise; T.V. aerials punctuating the white- stuccoed and cobblestoned towns of the Sierras. The exhibition continues until Christmas. Regional Police say heavy fog made driving conditions very treacherous and there were several minor accidents reported, but no serious injuries. In one accident about 8:15a.m., a young passenger in the Central Blackstock Dominion Hardware Seven School van had to be taken to hospital for treatment of head in- juries after the van and a half-ton truck collided in the dense fog on Durham Road 8. Two other young passengers in the van, the driver and the driver of the other truck were shaken up but not hurt. ed the business. wishes to announce that they have sold their business to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith & Mr. and Mrs. Dale Procunier Best wishes and good luck to the new owners and many thanks to all our customers over the past fifteen years we own- Mr. and Mrs. Allan Beacock, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Beacock, Robert Beacock
