Saunders 718. Sportsland Juniors battle for 7-7 draw On Saturday, October 25 the Sportsland Juniors paid a visit to Whitby for an exhibition game. The Whitby squad started fast and furious and jumped into a 4 to 2 lead before the first period was over. Whitby continued their scoring ability in the final frame with 2 more quick goals, but this only served to wake the Port team up and spur them on. In a span of 3 minutes Port scored 5 goals and Whitby added 1 more, making the final score in a tie of 7 each. This was a very intertaining game and it was very evident that the girls are physically and mentally prepared for this season. Scoring for Port were Kelly Calloway 2 goals, 2 assists, Sherry Harris 2 goals, 2 assists, Jennifer Pelow 2 goals, 1 assist, Rachel Traynor 1 goal, 2 assists, Colleen Yorke 2 assists, Kim Caudle 2 assists, Val White and Michelle Beare with 1 assist each. This years Sportsland Juniors consists of Kerri Allen, Rachel Traynor, Colleen Yorke, Sherry Harris, Cindy Harris, Valerie White, Jennifer Pelow, Kelly Calloway, Kim Caudle, Michelle Beare, Terry Childs and the welcomed return to ringette of Connie Norton. On Sunday, November 2 the Sport- sland Juniors started their regular season by playing a game against the Mariposa team in Oakwood. The first period was a see saw bat- tle with the score tied 2 all at the whistle. The Port team seemed to lose their skating legs in the final frame and along with a flush of penalties late in the game the Mariposa girls "took control with 3 quick goals late in the game making the final scare 7-4. Goal scorers for Port were Sherry Harris 2 goals, Kim Caudle 1 goal, 1 assist, Colleen Yorke 1 goal and Jennifer Pelow with 1 assist.
