Peale lm Poe oa 4 Spe rane (a mR Pa, AA CLL ra ed om 5 Seagrave and Area News by Marilyn Beacock With all the rain that has been fall- ing lately perhaps we should be con- sidering building an ark. There's enough water sitting in the back of our garden at the moment that I'm sure we could set it afloat! We warmly welcome a new little resident to our village. Mst. Eric Bosiljevac arrived at the home of Mike and Linda this week and judg- ing by his birth weight he'll soon be playing ball on his dad's team. Con- gratulations folks on the arrival of your first child! Best Wishes for a lifetime of good health and an abundance of hap- piness we extend to our newest newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Short who exchanged their marriage vows at the Seagrave United Church on Saturday. Bill and Penny will be taking up residence in their new home on the Short homestead following their honeymoon and we look forward to making Penny feel welcome in her new community. Last Sunday our sanctuary was filled with guests from other con- gregations as well as our own folk who were there to celebrate our Church's 80th Anniversary and to welcome back our former minister and his wife, the Rev. Jack Roundell and Alma. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bailey and their daughter Lisa of Port Perry provided excelle:t musical entertainment for us as did our own talented organist Mrs. Joan Lee and her choir. Following the service everyone retired to the base- ment for an hour of visiting with good friends and old acquaintances and also'to enjoy a tempting array of sandwiches and cookies. Don and I had the pleasure of at- tending the wedding of Miss Lee Anne Moore and Mr. Larry O'Con- nor which was held at the Sandford United Church last Saturday and we later attended the reception which was held at the Uxbridge Arena Banquet Hall. Best Wishes to this happy young couple too! While we are on the subject of weddings I would also like to wish many years of happiness to Miss Elizabeth Gibson of Port Perry who will be exchanging vows with Mr. Scott Beacock on Friday, October 10. : If anyone is interested in making a donation to the Arthritic Society please contact Mrs. Gertie Wanamaker no later than October 11 please. We are very pleased to announce that Mrs. Kaaren Johnston has kind- ly offered her assistance in taking a turn in preparing the news for this column. Kaaren was a former school teacher and now has a full- time job in Bowmanville. She is a very creative person and certainly has a talent for producing beautiful- ly crafted pieces of folk art. I am sure you'll enjoy reading her col- umn next week. Dianne, Anne and I welcome you to our "team"! We are still trying to encourage someone from Mariposa Estates to assist us with news from their cor- ner of the village. Sorry to hear Jill Coffey has not been feeling too chipper lately. But when the Japanese hire him to enforce their policies among his American co-workers, he goes from hero to zero in seconds flat. It's manpower vs. horsepower on the assembly line. Salami vs. sushi in the cafeteria. And a head-on cultural collision that's enough to upset the world's balance of laughter. See how really crazy things can get when Michael Keaton's in charge.
