'Scouts paper drive Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Paper drive - this coming Satur- day morning, October 4 at your driveway. I hope no one was confus- ed last week by the lack of date. Then 2 weeks hence October 18 - the Annual Apple Day. Wednesday, October 1 the "Head" U.C.W. will meet at the church at approximately 8:30 p.m. as some members will be meeting with the Hall Board at 8 p.m. Guess you are wondering how things went during the past week. The Youth group 13 to 18 on Friday evening was a flop. Leaders were present but no youth or interested parents. Of course there are many logical reasons. Well, they tried, thanks. Maybe Friday is a bad night. Sunday at the Island United was an exceptionally interesting day when members from Manchester joined with Scugog to share Rev. Brian Robinson's last service. The Sunday School was well represented. The Jr. Choir sang well. After the service, Brian & Carol were presented with farewell gifts of china tea pot, platter and vegetable bowl in their favourite design. Earlier in the service 3 girls and several boys received their Religion and Life Badges. Next Sunday the service will hold an element of surprise as Presbytery is giving assistance dur- ing our interim of ministry. For Thanksgiving the Jr. Choir will sing - "Make a Joyful Noise," - accompanied by cymbals. The Sunday before Thanksgiving - October 5 it is time for the annua Harvest Home Service at the Scugog "Head Memorial" Museun Church at 7:30 p.m. when the gues speaker will be Rev. Glen Jackso) of Port Perry. Of course you wil again enjoy the Scugog Historica Choir and the Old Fashioned Hymu Sing.
