Legion ousted in close games Port Perry Legion, while waiting for league play to end for the rest of the teams, went to Caledonia for the weekend to participate in their an- nual "Open" Fastball Tournament. Port lost two straight by scores of 2-1 to Port Elgin and 4-3 to Port Stanley. The games were quite close as the scores indicated and were beneficial as tightening for their pending O.A.S.A. Tournament in two weeks. As league play continues this week, Port will play an exhibition game Thursday night and start league playoffs the following week. The 0.A.S.A. this year has decid- ed to expand the intermediate 'C' Tournament to nine teams and play begins on Saturday, September 13th at 9 a.m. on both diamonds at the Lake Front. Three teams return from last years tournament played in Jarvis and they are Garden River, New Leaskard and Port Perry Legion. Garden River is mak- ing their 7th consecutive ap- - pearance while Port Perry Legion has been in the last four tour- naments. New teams this year set to do battle for the championship are Blytheswood, Palmerston, Tavistock, Picton, Greenbank and Meaford. O0.A.S.A. Jamie Brown put the Kinsmen on the board after receiv- ing a pass from goalie Greg Neve, to give us the advantage of 1st goal in the game. Rowdies, however came back with a goal and the 1st half ended tied. The 2nd half started after a real down pour and rain continued to the end of the game. Despite the weather the Kinsmen made some excellent passing throughout this half. Jason Towns scored our 2nd goal on a pass from Shawn Plain. Stuart Dyer then scored our 3rd goal on some nice footwork from Ian Cobham and Jason Towns. The final goal was scored by Drew Cardinal, again on some great passing from the slippery feet of Shawn Plain and Jason Towns. The team have really improved throughout the season and owe a big thank-you to their dedicated coaches Don Plain and Doug Moynes. Good luck in the playoffs Kinsmen.
