Monday, July 21, we held a bowling tourna- ment. Our top winner was Becky Gray with 100 points. Congratula- tions Becky!! Tuesday, 23 residents boarded Freeman's bus lines and headed out for a trip to Cullen Gardens. We had a beautiful hot day for walking thru the flowers and displays. Everyone enjoyed the gift shops and having lunch at the snack bar. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help us on this trip. Wednesday morning, we held coffee time on the patio with exercises following. During the afternoon some of us got together in front of the television to watch the Royal Wedding and then afterwards we went for a walk out in the sunshine. Thursday was Ceramics and Crafts class. This is the resident's favourite activity. They all like to be busy making useful items and various crafts that they in turn can sell to their family, friends, staff etc. Fri- - day was a bit of a switch, the women held a Women's Lib Gab and the men had a baking class. The women had great conversations while sip- ping on white wine. Their guest for this session was Mrs. Peggy Easton (who I hear is a real women's lib- ber). The men's baking was ran by none other but Mrs. Easton's better half, and we hear that they all had TAYLOR -- COLE Wedding vows were exchanged between Catherine Suzanne Taylor, daughter of Don and Faye Taylor and Timothy John Cole, son of Vincent and Faye Cole. Reverend Michael Locke officiated the ceremony Saturday, June 28, 1986 at the Trinity United Church in Uxbridge. The bride wore a Victorian-style gown of chantilly lace over satin with a juliet cap and lace tipped veil. The bridal bouquet was com- prised of white orchids and pink rosebuds. The bride was attended by Miss Lorraine Cushing - the maid of honour, Miss Brenda Leblanc and Miss Shelley Cole, wearing mat- ching orchid gowns and pearl necklaces and earrings - a gift from the bride. The groom and his attendants wore Oxford Grey Cutaway suits. Attendants were Mr. Art Corner - best man, Mr. Patrick Taylor and Mr. Gord Harper. The best man sang "Where is Love." The couple exchanged wedding bands and were piped from the church by Mr. William Hopkins in full Highland costume. The recep- tion was held at the Uxbridge Legion Hall with guests from Hamilton, "Toronto and Montreal. The happy couple enjoyed their honeymoon at Cape Cod and Boston. They will reside in Toronto. Everyone then had a restful break over the weekend and then back to the various activities on Monday. During the afternoon a sing-song was held on the patio. Everybody enjoyed the gala songs. Tuesday, July 29th, twelve residents from the Nursing Home passed the timeona rainy day by going on a cruise down the river. They started off by a bus ride to Peterborough, to have a delicious lunch at the Rock Haven Motel, then on to the lift-locks on the Trent-Severn Canal. We went up 65 feet in the air. Everyone com- mented how the top of the trees look- ed real different then when you are on the ground. Some of the other sights that we saw were Trent University, a large whooping crane and a lot of nice scenery. Wednes- day morning coffee hour was held in the dining room instead of outside due to the weather. During the after- noon the residents actively par- ticipated in a guessing game. The object of the game was they stuck their hands into some paper bags and then tried to guess what the con- tents were. Joan Tuck was the win- ner. We then held a picnic quiz to get everyone in the spirit for the picnic on the Thursday. Margaret Ed- wards ended up being our winner. Unfortunately on Thursday, the weather was not the best therefore the picnic was cancelled. Instead everyone was invited to an indoor picnic held in the dining room. Hear- ty thanks go out to the kitchen staff for preparing the salad plates for us. After our picnic lunch, everyone joined in some games. To end the week, Bingo was held on Friday afternoon. Congratulations to all the winners. Birthday greetings are going out to Mr. Orr Jeffrey on August 17th.
