Fine hot, sunny weather blessed the Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club's first ladies tournament in the new facilities last Thursday. Sixteen teams from Port Perry, Oshawa, Peterborough, Locust Hill, although the Port ladies gave it all they had, an Oshawa team eventual- ly went home with the trophy. Christopher Bryant and Michael Hepburn enjoyed a vacation at Camp Samac in Oshawa while Heather Goulding was roughing it in the Haliburton Highlands at Camp Adelaide. From all reports we have some excellent junior woodsmen in our midst. There was a slightly larger crowd at the card party with nine tables. Vera Fawns was this week's winner followed closely by Albert Watts 3 - James Emerton 4 - Edna Larmer 5 - Ethel Goble 6 - Nerta Masters, Low - Clarence Masters. Draws were won by Betsy Staniland, Laureana Brights and Meta Swain. The Blackstock Brussel Sprouts 4-H Club met at the home of Esther and Elaine Kelly on Wed. July 23 for a business meeting. Canning and jarring were discussed.
