Cartwright Minor softball action JUNIOR On July 21, at Nestleton, Sun- nyside Market-Caesarea defeated Lishman's 11-3. For Lishman's, Scott Goble hit in a homerun, with singles by Matthew Bradburn, J.J. Brunner, Scott Goble and Derrick Malcolm. Great catch by Matthew Bradburn of a line drive. Unassisted double play by Scott Goble, who caught a fly ball and touched first base for a double play. For Sun- nyside, Ryan Larmer had a good night with two homers and a game winning catch. Singles batted in by Blain Pelrine, Keith White, Leanne Goslin and Beau Cleeton. Good ef- fort by Angela Drew, Melissa Don- nelly, Scott Swain, Ryan Peter and Jonathan McCourt. On July 21, at Blackstock Fairgrounds Swain's Seed Sluggers defeated Turner's Green Giants 29-13. For the Sluggers, William Michel and Brad Vokins each hit a grand slam homer and another home run, with homers by Jason Logan (3), and Brad Morton. Brad Morton also hit in a triple. INTERMEDIATE On July 22, at Nestleton, Cumm- ings Backhoe narrowly beat our Brenda's Esso in a very exciting game that ended in a score of 27-26. For Brenda's, Scott Barr and Todd Moore both hit in homers, with triples by Paul Bycok, Todd Moore and Darren Leach. Doubles batted in by Danny Bycok, Darren Leach, Brent Donnelly, Paul Bycok, Todd Moore, Leanne McDowell, Alicia Bentley, David Walker, Scott Barr and Mike Leach. Outstanding cat- ches for Paul Bycok, Todd Moore, Mike Leach, David Walker and Alicia Bentley. Unassisted double play by Mike Leach who caught a fly and tagged second base. For Cum- mings, homers by Josh Wilson and Jeff Vernon with triples hit in by Jennifer Vokins, Donnie Cliff, Josh Wilson, Lyndsay Dutkewich, Michele Cummings and Andy Mackie. Doubles were hit in by Jeff Vernon, Lyndsay Dutkewich, Michele Cummings, Mark Sim- mons, Bristol Sleep and Andy Mackie. Outstanding catches by Jeff Vernon as pitcher and Lyndsay Dutkewich on first base for the game winning catch. Double play by Jeff Vernon and Jennifer Vokins. On July 23, at Caesarea, Brenda's Esso beat Port Perry Kinsmen 15-13. For Kinsmen, David Kett and Sean O'Donoghue hit in doubles. Outstanding catches by Christie Corden, Brandi Boardman, David Kett and Sean O'Donoghue. Unassisted double play by Christie Corden. For Brenda's, homer was hit in by Brent Donnelly, and triples by Scott Barr and Danny Bycok doubles by Darren Leach, Mike Leach, Scott Barr, Michelle Morton, 'Danny Bycok, Paul Bycok and Brent Donnelly. Double play by Mike Leach and great catches by Michelle Morton and Mike Leach. SENIORS On July 21, Blackstock Dominion Hardware beat the Blackstock Lioness. For the Lioness a homer was hit in by Chris MacLeod, and doubles by Derrick Rowntree, Robert MacEachern, Chris Beacock, Craig Rowntree, Chris MacLeod and Kevin Ellis. Two outs at home plate by Robert MacEachern as catcher. Jason Cliff batted 4 for 5 and Kevin Ellis and Chris MacLeod batted 4 for 4. On July 23, at Seagrave, the Blackstock Lioness Squirts defeated Seagrave 13-2. For the Lioness, homers were hit in by Andy Wilson, Chris MacLeod and Terry Park. Triples were hit in by Craig Rowntree and Chris MacLeod, with doubles by Jason Cliff, Andy Wilson, Chris MacLeod and Chris Bryant. Outstanding catch by Craig Rowntree. Unassisted double play by first baseman Jason CIiff. Lioness pitchers gave up only 7 singles in the entire game. The Blackstock Lions Pee Wee selects continued on their winning ways to remair undefeated as they defeated the hometown Port Perry Lil Gators 17-6 bc sting their record to 6-0. Starting pitcher Jeremy Woodcock again was a dominant force on the mound, fanning nine Lil Gators through five shutout innings. Port Perry's runs were scored in one inning as Woodcock was switch- ed to allow the relievers some work. Leading the offensive attack were Tyler James and Jeff Brett with homeruns back to back. Donny Hughes, Ronnie Vokins and Darryl Dutkewich with doubles. Heath Hudson, Jeremy Woodcock, Derrick Rowntree, Gary Stevens all had singles. Next game for the Lions is Wednesday, July 30th at Nestleton as they entertain Greenbank at 6:30 p.m. The Blackstock Lions Pee Wee selects will be playing their first tournament of the year this weekend in Oshawa in the McLaughlin National Softball Tour- nament.
