A third game site in the series will be deter- mined prior to the start of Monday nights game in Greenbank. The Uxbridge team will be for- midable oppdnents for the Gamblers as rumour says they have added fireballer Randy Underwood to their team plus two stars from Sutton Irish House? Greenbank will again be going with their excellent pitching duo of Russ Korbak and Ken Goreski, plus their good defense which has car- ried the team along playoff trails in the past. The Greenbank attack will be led by Trevor Till, Don Beaton and Greg Rodd who are all having an excellent year at the plate. For 0.A.S.A. play the Gamblers cannot use Brian Myers, George - Redshaw, Steve Foster or Roland Osske due to residence restrictions so the rest of the team will have to dig a little deeper to take up the slack. Standing in the wings to meet the Uxbridge - Greenbank winner is the Claremont Legion and the eventual winner of that series will be in Port Perry at the middle of September for the Intermediate '"'C" Ontario Championships. One potential bright spot for Gamblers could be 'he return to ac- tion of outfielder Ray Meisner who is out of the hospital and has had one practice with the team. Last week in Oshawa City League play the Greenbank team met the Oshawa Merchants in Greenbank Park in the only game the team With 4-0 victory over Whitby played last week. This week the Gamblers post- poned two league games in order to start the O.A.S.A. series with Uxbridge. The game with the Oshawa Mer- chants was a close 2-1 ball game for seven innings but the big bats of the Oshawa Merchants started finding places to drop hits and finally won going away by a score of 8-1. Neil Rodd, Trevor Till and Rodd Real were the only Greenbank players to hit safely off Jim Chilvers on 'he Oshawa mound. Chilvers had an outstanding game as he fanned 14 Greenbank batters and also con- tributed a two run homer to the Oshawa attack. This was followed by a long out at the fence by Jack Bright, just falling inches short of going out of the park as well. Port continued to apply the heat to Whitby starter Mark Coutu by scoring 2 runs in the. top of the fourth on hits by Jay Williams, Dave Dickson, Grant Jackson and Ken Bryant. The Legion squad rounded out the scor- ing in the ninth inning on a walk to Bill Bridge, sacrifice bunt by Jack Bright, a stolen base and a squeeze bunt by Grant Jackson. Paul Graham pitched a complete game gaining the victory giving up eleven hits while striking out three: Port opened the scoring when after two were out, Pete Christie walked and came home on a clutch triple by lead off batter Bill Bridge. Oshawa tied the contest in the fifth inning on three singles and a fielder's choice. The game breezed along as A.C L.'s hurler John Logeman kept Port in check allowing only six hits.
