Now just two points out of first place Port Perry Legion continued their winning streak to seven league games in a row by pounding Oshawa ACL twice with scores of 12-2 and 11-1 and edging Greenbank 3-1. This streak has moved the Legion squad place with the Oshawa Merchants and only two points back of league leading Whitby Legion. from fifth place to a tie for second Last Monday in Oshawa against ACL, Port Perry broke a 2-2 tie by scoring 9 runs in the 6th inning, tur- ning a tight game into a route. Star- ting pitcher Lawrie Williams toss- ed a 4-hitter while striking out a season high 13 batters in the seven inning game. The Port attack was led by Rob Evans, Lawrie Williams and John Butler with 3 hits each; Dave Dickson with 2 hits and Rick Evans, Jay Williams, Paul Graham and Ken Bryant with 1 hit a piece. On Wednesday night Port Legion returned to the scene of the crime and inflicted additional damage on the ACL team with a 11-1 victory. Ken Irvine was on the mound this time weaving a nifty 8-hitter. Legions Neil Hancock and Steve Gilbert played well and Dan- ny Brown and Johnny Hall showed good kicking and passing skills on the forward line. Despite some close calls they were unable to put the ball in the net. Calvin Hammett was busy in the net and made some ter- rific saves. Gallagher's Gladiators - 2 Provincial Signs - 1 This was a great game for the spectators with both teams display- ing how much they have refined their skills. Brett Lawson and Ryan Williams were brave enough to try 'a couple of headers and Kim Rollo and Justin Wooten displayed some fancy footwork. This game could have gone either way with Provin- cial Signs forwards Alan Calder and Matt Phoenix really pushing the ball up the field and Gallagher's for- Jay Tredway and Christina lark doing the same. Jeremy Nor- ton found the mark with 2 goals and Ryan Duff notched 1. Goalie, Mark Brown, for Gallagher's played very well.
