Overall winner of the Exotic Drink Competition was Rob Kroonenberg of Emiel's Place with his crowd pleasing "CC Split". The judges of the "Tropical Drink Com- petition" held at Emiel's Place as part of the Caribbean Festival Days events enjoyed every minute of their job last Thursday night. . They sampled six different exotic drinks and Chris Tzountzoris from Haugen's Bar BQ was all smiles after successfully mixing up his speciality called a "CC Sand Cap". Emiel's Place pours best drink with the C.C. Split It was a tough job, but someone had to do it. That was the admission of the six judges who picked the winner of the Chamber of Commerce tropical drink contest held at Emiel's Place last Thursday night. Hiram Walker sponsored the con- test and supplied free Canadian Club to all contestants as well as hats for all who participated. Canadian Club was the base liquor for all the drinks, but that was the only stipulation. Basically, all con- testants were free to come up with any combination of liquor and mix they wanted, as long as the results were tropical. Bartenders from six local restaurants whipped up a fair bit of enthusiasm for the contest. Emiel's Place won first prize (a plated Canadian Club bottle) with its C.C. Rider, a delicious blend of pineap- ple juice, banana, rye, Amaretto and ice cream. Conway Place came in second with its tasty C.C. Conway Carib- bean Cruise, a fruity mixture in a had a hard job declaring a winner.
