anything Toronto to Montreal What was once a grocery store, then a popular roller skating rink is now the home of the largest night club and restaurant this side of Toronto. '"Elusions," the dream of Ken Jackson of Port Perry, and Tony and Carmen Albis of Oshawa, becomes a reality this Thursday evening when they open their doors to the public. The night club, situated at 22 Athol Street in downtown Oshawa, is licenced for over 1000 patrons and has a staff of 75 people working as waitresses, bartenders, doormen - and hostesses, and it's class all the way as every inch of the old building has been gutted and rebuilt. In an interview with the Star, owners Ken Jackson and Tony Albis said that virtually the entire struc- ture has been rebuilt. The exterior has been re-bricked, there are huge tinted glass windows surrounding the building on two sides, and three 15° x 21' hot-pink neon signs will eluminate the outside with '"Elusions." Inside, the facility boasts one of the most advanced sound and lighting systems available. At a cost of about $350,000, this superb system will have people dancing all night on one of Elusions two huge dance floors. Five bars inside the club, trimm- ed with light oak and complimented with chrome stools with plush velvet-like padded seats, make the refreshments handy to patrons from After four months of delays, Elusions, Durham Region's largest nightclub will open in downtown Oshawa. The club employees 75 per- sons to make your evening out one you can en- joy. Pictured here are some of the young ladies any area of the room. There are six levels of seating, dancing and stan- ding areas which give an unobstructed view of the dance floors and stage. Music by a DJ and videos pumping out top 40 hits, funk, disco and new wave will be featured when a band is not on stage. The project, which started in September 1985 is about four months behind schedule, but the owners are sure nobody will be disappointed with the wait. Although they had planned to be open by Valentine's Day, changes in the design of the in- terior to make it a more pleasant at- mosphere, have caused many delays. They also decided to open- up an additional area, giving them over 12,000 square feet of usable space within the building. In one area, a mezzanine has been constructed with its own bar. This area, behind the stage and dance floor will give patrons who wish a lit- tle quieter spot, a place to still view the activities. Monday to Saturday Elusions will be serving light lunches daily. ". he menu is extensive, but very inex- pensive featuring a variety of foods such as pasta, sandwiches, ham- 'burgers, steaks and salads. The 1 "evening menu will be limited to light . finger foods only. Sundays will be a time for teenagers, aged 13-18 to enjoy the surroundings and the sound of a real night-club.
