For the week of May 26, everyone was extremely busy preparing for the Nursing Home and Villa Bazaar, that was held on Saturday, May 31. Everyone's hard work sure paid off. We had a very good turn out. Some of the featured WATCH FOR GRAND OPENING | items were ceramics, crafts, chocolates, silk flowers, a tea room and various other displays. Thank you to the residents, families, staff and volunteers for their generous donations and hard work. Also thank you to the public who attend- .ed. We could not have bazzars without your support. All money we 22 Athol Street, Oshawa, Ontario June 26th a LE PRL I -- make from our bazaar"s is used for the residents for such things as craft supplies, trips, prizes, barbecues, etc. The winners of the draws were: Quilt: Edith Williams, Lawn Or- naments: Lgtty Saunders, Sweater: Connie Archer, Villa's 50/50: Kim McClure. Between preparations for the bazaar the residents were able to fit in an interesting movie and a bingo game. To start off the first week of June, we had manicures, ceramics, bingo, quizes, and a spelling bee. On Thursday, June 6, we loaded up the cars and headed out for our lunch outing. Our host for our meal was the Greystone Equestrian Centre. We all had a terrific time and everyone enjoyed their delicious meal. While we ate we had a chance to view some horses in the arena and afterwards we toured the stables to see over 50 of the horses they keep there. Thank you to the staff at Greystone for the invitation and also to the drivers of the cars that were able to take us. Birthday greetings are extended to Mr. Ted Whitter (June 8), Mrs. Louise Wright (June 17), and Mrs. Gladys Zenglein (June 18). Everyone would like to welcome Mr. Sam Griffen, Mr. Bill Attwood, Mrs. Clara Ray, and Mrs. Irene Thomas to the Nursing Home. We hope you enjoy your stay with us. The week of June 15 to June 20 has been designated Nursing Home Week. Everyday during this week there are activities going on. We start out on the Sunday with a Father's Day Breakfast. Keep your barbecue at least 10 feet from buildings, overhangs and combustible structures. to light a barbecue with the lid closed. If it fails to light or goes out, turn the gas off and wait five minutes before relighting. 5. When finished, close all valves. 6. We will be hosting our own version of the Gong Show at 2 p.m. If you have a talent that you would be interested in displaying why not contact us at 985-3205 (Ac tivity Dept.). At 7 p.m., there will be a family reception, church, and a wine and cheese party. This is open to the families of the residents. Wednesday (18) is designated Fundraising Day. We will be busy with a variety of activities throughout the day and at the same time we will be raising money for the Alzheimer's Society. We have scheduled for the day a rockathon, bowlathon, bingo, draw, and a kiss- ing booth. If you are interested in helping or sponsoring a resident why not come in to see us. Thursday will be Volunteer Appreciation Day and Award Day. We then end the week on the Friday (20) with Fun - n - games Day. We will be enjoying the afternoon with games and then into a Barbecue at 2:30. At this time the residents and staff would like to extend an invitation to the public to join us during Nursing Home Week (June 15-20). Musical ride Durham Region Horseback Riding for the Handicapped Association will be holding our eighth annual Open House on Sun- day, June 22, 1986 at 2 o'clock at Hoskin Stables (on Durham Road 57, south of Blackstock). Take this opportunity to see young disabled riders displaying their skills. As an added feature, you will see the famous Hoskin Stables Musical Ride. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
