No one makes faces quite like guitar player David Wilcox! He may look funny, but he managed to wow the crowd at Scugog Arena on Friday night with his hypnotizing brand of rock 'n roll. It was a capacity crowd that filled Sc one of the Kinsmen Club' ugog Arena Friday night for part s 1986 Springfest celebration. Headliner David Wilcox drew more than 1,300 people for the fundraising event. Obituary--William Lloyd Beacock Wm. Lloyd Beacock entered into rest at the Community Memorial Hospital, Port Perry onMarchi5, 1986. Lloyd Beacock was the second youngest of seven children born to the late Wesley Beacock and Helena Jane Campbell Beacock on Feb. 14, 1912. He attended Cartwright Public School and later graduated from Cartwright High School. During his younger years he thoroughly en- joyed music and often sang solos and was active in the church choir. On Sept. 19, 1953 Lloyd was join- ed in marriage to his beloved wife Florence Edith Ritchie and their vows were exchanged at the Woodgreen United Church in Toron- to with the Rev. Ray McLeary of- ficiating. Lloyd was later to find out what a wonderfully loyal and faithful companion Florence would be to him. They returned to the Beacock homestead on the 7th conc. of Cart- wright where Lloyd assumed a career in farming with his brother John Beacock. They also augmented farm duties with the fell- ing of trees. Lloyd and Florence were blessed with the birth of their first son Glenn on May 8, 1955 and another son Gor- don, on May 28, 1957. Life was good to this happy young family and Lloyd spent many happy hours en- joying his young sons. Then tragedy struck. On Oct. 24, 1968 Lloyd and John- had contracted to fell a large tree near the old Comco plant in Ux- bridge. Lloyd was removing some of the larger branches near the top of the tree when his safety harness gave way and he crashed several feet below. That was the beginning of eight long months of gruelling pain and suffering in Toronto General Hospital and later in Lyn- dhurst Lodge as he valiantly struggled to regain some use of his limbs. Due to his strong faith in God and the excellent love and support from his wife, family and friends Lloyd was able to return home although he remained confined to a wheelchair the rest of his life. Due to his severe injuries it necessitated their move from the farm to a bungalow on Queen St. for a year and then finally into their lovely new home at 436 Scugog St. -in May of 1969. Lloyd continued his avid interest in church life despite his handicaps and served as a Deacon for 12 years on the board of the Port Perry Bap- tist Church. Their home was often opened for family showers, anniver- sary parties, etc. which served to help brighten his days with new and exciting stimulation which he eager- ly anticipated. One of the greatest joys of his life occurred on Jan. 4, 1985 when their youngest son Gordon and his wife Bernice presented them with a grandaughter, Jacilynn Ellen. Jacilynn provided yet another in- centive for Lloyd to enjoy each new day. Throughout his life Lloyd remain- ed devoted to his wife, their sons and his family. Bill was a member of Burns Presbyterian Church and served for some time on the Board of Managers. In spite of his affliction his many visitors always found him cheerful and interested. Left to mourn his passing are his wife the former Ellen (Nellie) Jean Gostick and a son Maurice and his wife Sandy. Also surviving are a sister Hilda, and brothers John and Walter. A sister Mary predeceased him in 1979. On Saturday April 19, Rev. Stuart McEntyre assisted by Claude Sim- monds conducted the largely attend- ed funeral service in Burns Presbyterian Church, Ashburn. In- terment followed in Burns Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe - Johnson, Stan Lynde, Bill Gardner, Les Harbron, Hugh and Theo Knight. s The many callers at the Carson Funeral Chapel, Brooklin, the love- ly floral tributes, and the memorial gifts attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
