EC PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 13, 1986 -- 23 il Art on display Two exhibitions of fine art are running concurrently in the region which feature the works of Port Perry artists. Included in the 1988 Annual Juried Exhibition of the East Central Ontario Art Associa- tion are paintings by Sheila Dantzer and Leslie A. Parkes. The E.C.0.A A. show continues in the Visual Arts Centre in Bowmanville until May 24. As part of the Oshawa Art Association's 19th Annual Art Ex- hibition, paintings by Dantzer, Parkes and Ruth Stone were suc- cessfully admitted. Particularly note-worthy is Dantzer's water- colour, entitled 'Kitchen Peurto Plata," which was singled out dur- ing the opening ceremonies for the Robert McLaughlin Gallery Volunteer Committee Award and the Oshawa Art Association Award for being the best of the show. The C.A.A. show continues in the Michael Starr Building in Oshawa until May 21. A major exhibition of the works of Leslie A. Parkes opens at the Mill . Hollow Gallery near Utica on Satur- day, May 17 and continues for two weeks. Most of our residents are from the surrounding communities and would still like to: feel part of the community. We have a monthly newspaper within the Home but we thought that a column in the Star would help keep the fami- ly and friends of residents inform- ed of our activities. Also we would like to make the public aware of our small community within the community. y We would like to express birthday greetings to Mrs. Mae Maloney (May 7), Mrs. Sarah Willamott (May 10) and a special greeting to one of our valued volunteers-- Miss Betty Fellows. Some of the activities that were held in the last week are ceramics, crafts, bingo, movies, manicures, baking, men's bowling, plus many more activities are always going on. On Wednesday April 30 thru the evening some of the residents at- tended a terrific play at the Town Hall which was called "The Merry Widow.' Also on Wednesday May 7 during the evening some of the residents were hosted to another play titled "A Breath of Spring' which was held in Uxbridge. The residents certainly enjoyed these two nights out and thank-you to everyone who made it possible. The week of May 4th to the 10th was proclaimed "NURSES WEEK" and the residents invited all of the staff to an appreciation tea where we were served tea and a lovely cake. They also decorated the nur- sing stations just to brighten our day. Thanks to the residents for thinking of us. Just a last little note that we're having a Bazaar on Saturday, May 31, so mark it on your calendar so that you won't miss it.
