é -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 15, 1986 Artist keeps busy Local artist, Catherine Dalhaise, is having a busy year. In January and February, she participated with many other members of the Oshawa Art Association in an exhibition at the Oshawa Golf Club and in F and March, she had a solo show of finger paintings in the Oshawa Gallery, Brush Strokes. Next month, will be the Annual Juried Show at the Michael Star Building and in June she will have a booth at the Manvers Arts and Crafts Show. September she will take part in the Samac Art Festival and in October, a dual show at the Visual Arts of Newcastle. She will hold her Annual Open House at her residence in Raglan on April 26 and 27th from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. It is the only show where you can see all the different styles of her paintings; abstracts, life Chatterbox by Cathy Robb (From page 4) ple across the country must deal with this on a regular basis. Actually, looking at my situa- tion in this light (that I'm not alone in my broke-ness) makes me feel ridiculously better. At least I have a home to go to. Even if I have to hitch-hike. - Viewpoint (From page 5) week's paper about the number of - people having anti-rabies shots, also a letter to the editor. Rabies, of course, is a terrifying disease. Here are a couple of little- known facts about rabies. The last person in Durham Region to die from the disease lived here in Port Perry nearly 20 years ago. Also, did you know the cost of the serum for one anti-rabies treatment series is about $750. The serum comes from France, is very difficult to make, and is only handed out by the provincial Health Ministry when requested by a medical doctor. More than 50 Port Perry and area residents are taking the treatments. The cost to the Health Ministry for the serum alone (never mind the doctors bill) is more than $35,000. That in itself is one more good reason why people have an obliga- tion and responsibility to find out - about rabies and take every precau- tion to avoid it; get your pets vac- cinated, keep your pets tied up or fenced, and teach your kids to stay away from strays, even if they are friendly. drawings, wildlife, landscapes, oils, watercolours, charcoals, etc. Last year success at her first Open House made her decide to make it a "Once a Year" event right in our neighbourhood.
