Scugog Mayor Jerry Taylor said factors this year left the Regional council with no choice but to in- crease the spending by 13 per cent. It will be several weeks before Township ratepayers find out exact- ly what the total tax increase will be this year. The Durham Board of Education, which takes just over 50 per cent of property taxes, has yet to pass its 1986 budget, and budget preparations at the local level are still going on as well. Site for the school (From page 1) students. Students attending the new school will come from Scugog Island and from the area in Port Perry north of McDonald Street. The school almost certainly will open with four portables on the site ¥as Mrs. Lafarga said there is not enough grant money to build a larger school. Meanwhile at a meeting last week, the executive of the Port Perry Fairboard officially agreed to sever the lease the Fairboard jas with the Township for the - Fairgrounds property. Plans are now being made to move the annual Port Perry Fair to Atoms now or never It will be the proverbial "do or die" for the Port Perry Malmont Farm Atoms in their quest for a se- cond straight Eastern Ontario Championship. The Port Atoms are up against the wall in their series with a big, strong Napanee team, and trail the best of seven affair three games to one. After losing the first two games in Napanee, the Atoms found a spark of life at the Scugog Arena Saturday afternoon when Steve Laird snap- ped a 2-2 tie in overtime to give them a 3-2 victory. Jason Cochrane and Jody Logan added the other two markers for Port Perry. But on Sunday in Napanee, the host club took the 3-1 lead in games with a victory of 3-1. Steve Laird managed the lone marker for Port Perry in the third period. So it's back to Napanee this com- ing Saturday, April 5 for another chance to keep the series (and the season) alive for the Port Perry Atoms. If Port Perry can come away with a victory in that one, game six is slated for April 6 at the Scugog Arena at 7:00 p.m. WEDDING INVITATIONS and Accessories PORT PERRY STAR 235 Queen Street Port Perry 985-7383
