Poots won the lone hand .series with 14. Port Perry to host Tankards On Thursday March 27, the Port Perry Curling Club is hosting the South Ontario Curling Association Tankard Finals. oo. This is the oldest Ladies' Curling Competition in Ontario. The first Tankard Final was held in Belleville in 1914 on outdoor ice. Their brooms were regular kitchen straw brooms, and all wore long kilts. Many clubs compete first in- the 16 Districts and then in *' Division levels. These club. S.0.L.C.A. are from Windsor to . Kingston and north to Gravenhurst. Only 4 clubs reach the Tankard Finals. Each club sends 8 curlers to the double team event. A ten-end game will be played March 27 at 9:00 a.m. and the se- cond game at 1:30 p.m. In the 1:30 p.m. game, the morning winners play-off for the Tankard cup. The morning losers play-off for the Nor- they Trophy. The ladies of Port Perry Curling Club have been working to make this a pleasant and memorable .ccasion. This was a hard fought penalty filled game ending in a 4 to 1 loss for Port. Our lone goal was scored by Kelly Calloway from Jen Pelow. Playing well between the pipes were Kerri Allen and Terry Childs to hold down the shooters of Ajax.
