The Post Office was established in Blackstock in 1887. More information re- plans for this major event in the history of the village at a later date. Blackstock & District Lions Club News On Wednesday evening, February 5th, the Lions Club held their meeting in the Rec Centre with very good attendance. Guest speaker for the evening was Keith Elliott of Port Perry, who presented an in- teresting, informative talk on the ork of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters within this area. A most wor- thwhile evening! The Lions Club received an honour as well! They were presented with a Banner ... a gift from the Lions Club of Australia. A fine gesture and much appreciated! The Club has been do- ing a bit of community work this week ... they held a work party last Tuesday, and repaired the chairs in the Blackstock Town Hall. Many people use the hall and will ap- preciate very much the efforts of the Lions Club. Caesarea Euchre Scores At the weekly card game the lucky winners were: First prize- Ross Keeler 86. Second prize- James: Emerton 78. Two tied for low score- Pearl Day and Walter Brown each held 54. A nice lunch was enjoyed after the game. The euchres are sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary. Sympathy Extended Our sympathy goes out to Roy and Mildred Hope of Blackstock in the sudden death of her brother, Cecil Mills, just recently. He will be miss- ed by many members of the family and a host of friends. - Social Notes Our good friend, Neta Fish had a most enjoyable 'week visiting at Reaboro, with her grandchildren, Michael, Jamie and William while their parents, Jim and Audrey Leishman went skiing for a few days, at Bancroft, returning home the first of the week ... and Neta had a nice visit with them as well. She returned home to Nestleton on Saturday morning. Her son Calvin and wife Yvonne Holland and fami- ly were dinner guests on Saturday. We're glad to have Neta back home again. Saturday afternoon, Curtis Cawker and Shawn Kidd of Oshawa were enjoying a break on their snowmobile and all-terrain vehicle at the Cawker farmstead, Scugog Point Road ... after a Gorrie cb okns of fun, travelling about the farm .. they had a period of relaxation over : the coffee cups. Great to see the kids! Many good things are in store for the Hall -- a teen group is being formed -- and Jacqueline McDer- mott has two groups meeting at the Hall now -- more information re- this activity later. Birthday Celebration Little Kyle Walker, Scugog Point, turned three years old on Monday, February 10th and his parents, David and Regenia Walker, had a lovely birthday party for him with all the trimmings.
