Friday, December 13, 1985 Cochranes - 9 IGA - 6 The Trotters using theirtorses in- stincts, came from behind twice, before taking over in the third period, running away on a fast track. In period one, IGA took an early lead on goals from Bobby Orr and Mike Toye, only to look around and see the Trotters come roaring back with Peter Brock, along with Jon Rodway tying it up. Period over 2-2 tie. The second period had IGA again going out front with goals from John Sturman, Chris Lavereau, and Toye coming up with his second of the day. The Horsemen came charging down the straight away with goals from Rodway and Shepstone 5-4 IGA after two. In the third period the horsemen tore down the track, led by Rod- way"s two goals, giving him four for the day. Rob Jamieson added two also, while Ron Halligan scored the lone goal. Ed Toffin added the lone marker for IGA. Picking up assists in the game were Criscione 1; Carr 2; Shepstone 1; Halligan 1; Jamieson 2; Haist 2 and Rodway 2. Emmersons scored in the second period after Weinhold intercepted a pass and fed Bache who in turn passed back to Weinhold who scored. The Gas Works wouldn't give in, came back in the third period, with Chris Menzies blasting it in from the blueline from Cary Dowson. December 14, 1985 Consumers Gas - 6 IGA - 2 Six players in all helped in the scoring of goals on Saturday morn- ing in defeating IGA 6-2. Consumers never looked back in the period as Darryl Bradt scored from Dale Leask, Duane Leask got one from Chris Menzies and Trevor Solomon. Emmersons - 7 Cochranes - 3 Emmerson took the play right to the Horsemen, and tallied three times before the Trotters could get PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 17, 1985 -- 25 Bantam House League action on track Darcy Head scored twice, while Jason Beftrand finally found the range, assist going to Weinhold and Jim Jackman. 3-0 after one. Jon Rodway put the Trotters on the score sheet with Halligan assisting. Emmersons answered right back with goals from Jim Jackman and Bertrand getting his second of the day, assists going to Bertrand, Joe Jackman and Jim Jackman. The Trotters added two goals from Alan Shepstone and Jon Rod- way with Vince Criscione, Chris Carr and Peter Brock picking one assist each. Darcy Head got his second Hat Trick in the third pericd for the season while Chris Logan finally broke the drought and scored giving Emmersons a 7-3 win. There are four more games next weekend again. See you there boys. The country boys whip city dudes by Mark Barkey The Port Perry Goreski Insulation Bantams are thankful to be country boys as they defeated Oshawa 4-0. It seems Oshawa has a habit of call- ing us farm boys, but the tables were turned on them and Port won 4-0. Port scored early in the second period on a goal from Shawn (Relic) Nanay, assisted by Mark Barkey and Brad Traves. The next goal was also scored in the second by our chief, Brad Menzies, assists went to his linemates Jeff Oke and Warren Geer. Greg Stapleton scored the third int he third from a pass by Mark Barkey. The final goal was from Clair Cornish with assists go- ing to Mike Sorley and Brad Traves. Port then travelled to Uxbridge and edged them by a score of 4-3. Scoring early in the first period was Stephen Connors (welcome back Steve!) on an unassisted effort. Ux- bridge scored the next one to end the first. Tied at one, and just fifty-three seconds into the first, Jeff Oke scored assisted by Shawn Nanay and Mark Barkey. Uxbridge tied the game not long after that, but Port didn't stop trying and scored again. This time it was Jeff Oke getting his second of the night with Brad Men- zies assisting. Uxbridge tied the game again but you can't hold a good team down and Jamie Menzies proved that, as he slapped home another one with Clair Cornish and Jeff Oke assisting. This was one of the best games of the tournament with end to end ac- tion. Newcastle jumped into a fast 2 to 0 lead but the Eagles fought back to make it 3 to 2 on goals by Lee Wilbur assisted by Craig Menzies, Greg Warriner assisted by Craig Menzies and Dave Burnett, Craig Menzies assisted by Greg Warriner and Chris Cookman. Newcastle tied it up in the 3rd period with less than 5 minutes to go, but Old Spark Plug, John Har- man, got the winner, with a wicked slap shot from the blue line, assisted by Derek Dexter and Steve Durham to salt the victory away.
