Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Christmas Time Christmas is on the way! We hear it whispered ... sung and shouted ... This is a wonderful time of year ... so let us get into the spirit of the Christmassy season just ahead ... and make it a joyous time for fami- ly ... friends ... neighbours ... those in need ... the ill and so forth. A real time of happiness as we decorate ... plan ... cook ... entertain ... and above all worship. Let us make the most of it -- it will never be 1985 again! A Merry Christmas to one and all ... wherever you may be. Birthday Celebrated Irene McKee had a very pleasant surprise on Saturday afternoon when 50-60 members of the family and friends gathered at the Nestleton Community Centre to shower her with "Best Wishes' on her 75th birthday. Just about all the family were present - a few from the Yukon were unable to attend. A lovely dinner complete with birth- day cake and all the trimmings was enjoyed. Irene was the recipient of many birthday cards and ap- propriate gifts at this "gala' party. A very festive event and the area ex- tend "warmest wishes' to Irene for many more such wonderful occasions. Nestleton United Church With Glenn and Arlene Malcolm, Heather, Alison, Erin and cousin Leta Malcolm greeting at the door - Sunday service was a highlight in the lives of both Sunday School and congregation in Nestleton United with Rev. Dale Davis conducting the service. This was White Gift Sunday when folks present gifts for the needy. The III Advent candle was lit representing Peace. The children's theme was a guessing game ending up with a surprise for all present. The Junior Choir sang a fine number with Janice MacKenzie leading and Betty Headon playing the piano. The large congregation witnessed the beautiful ceremony of baptism when Johnathan Henry, lit- tle son of Tom and Wilma Wotten, Caesarea was baptized by Rev. Dale Davis assisted by Clerk of Session Lawrence Malcolm. A baptismal tells a real story - a step in the right direction naming a child and admit- ting the child to the Christian Com- munity. We welcome Johnathan Henry as a member of our family of God. Rev. Dale Davis rendered a very thought-provoking III Advent sermon re- modern attitudes versus that of Mary in her acceptance of her role as the Mother of Jesus, bas- ed on Scripture from Isaiah and Luke.
