Tough luck for Novice A On Friday December 6th the Pearce Auctioners faced off against the team representing Cobourg. This was a fast skating hockey game with all team members play- ing well. Port came up short though as Cobourg won the game 4-1. Port's lone goal was scored by Brent Harper who received the puck from Greg Thompson who then car- ried it up the ice outmanouvering the Cobourg team; and blasted it home. Beautiful goal Brent. Mike Pashley was worked hard between the pipes tonight. Also, special mention must go to defenceman Jay King who did a great job poking the puck away from the Cobourg offence; and Jay Tredway who played really well giv- ing an all-out effort. On Saturday morning the Novice No.1's travelled to Pickering for a match-up with the Oshawa Cana- diens. Although Port played a super game and passed the puck well, Oshawa scored the lone goal of the game and giving them a 1-0 win. The Easy win On Sun. Dec. 8 the Bruton's IDA Petites travelled to Woodville and easily came home with a 13-2 vic- tory. The other two foreward lines of Jay Tredway, Mike Labanovich, and Davey Bourgeois and Greg Thompson, Kenton LeFort and Brent Harper also passed well and made many scoring attempts but the Oshawa goalie kept them off the scoreboard. The defensive line of Scott Heasman and Andrew Jones played a very strong game as did the other defensemen Gavin Carnegie, Keith Haist, Brett Lawson and Jay King. The Pearce Auc- tioneers goalie, Mike Pashley, made many great saves between the pipes. Way to play, boys. On Friday December 13th, the Novice No.1's will host the Oshawa Canadiens at 7 p.m. for a rematch. Play like you did last Saturday and we'll be treated to another great hockey game.
