With Jim in story) YMCA fun bus running In an attempt to otter recreational opportunities to outreach program areas the Durham Region Family YMCA is introducing the 'Fun Bus.' The program designed for children five to fourteen years of age en- courages participation, socializa- tion, fitness and fun. The bus picks up children from in and around Port Perry, takes them to an activity in the Durham Region and returns them home. On board the bus YM- CA staff involve the children in songs and games. The first 'Fun Bus' for Port Perry is scheduled for December 13, 1985 and featuring a Christmas Swim Party. The cost is $6.00 which in- cludes return bus transportation, swim admission to Uxpool and lots of on board fun. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 10, 1985 -- 19 Family jumps at Jim Roefs did not have any life- long ambition to go into business for himself, but when the right oppor- tunity came along, he jumped at it For Jim, his wife Emma and their two young daughters, that "right op- portunity' happened last fall when he bought the Wallace Marlow Feed Store in Port Perry. "This kind of chance doesn't come along very often. It's a nice size business for myself and my family," he told the Star last Friday as he was getting ready for his 'official open- ing" on the weekend. The business is now called Port Perry Feeds Ltd. and is located on VanEdward Drive, just off the Oshawa Road in Port Perry. It offers a full line of feed for livestock and pets, chemicals and fertilizers for the farm industry and all the supplies the back-yard gardener will ever need. Wilson Feed Company in Whitevale. Since he took over the business last September, Jim has been busy calling on farmers in the Scugog area. Personal contact with working farmers is something he enjoys and feels comfortable with. And he says he's very much look- ing forward to this February when he moves his family to a new home in Port Perry. They are now living in Markham and Jim says that returning to a smaller town will suit him just fine. Jim's wife Emma will take an ac- tive role in the business, once the children are a little older. And with a smile, he says he's looking forward to the day when daughters Lisa and Tasia-LLee are able to help out around the store.
