JOWATER ST PORT PERRY 985 8471 Mary Parhament was presented with the Medal of Merit awarded to her by the Chief Scout of Canada, the Governor General, at the Pine Ridge District meeting on Thurs- day. November 2lst at the Port Perry Scout Hall The Medal of Ment 1s awarded for especially good service to Scouting and Mary received the first to be awarded in this District. Mary has give over 35 years of service to Scouting, most of it as Cubmaster of the 1st Cannington Pack. She has served Pine Ridge District since it was formed, as Assistant District Commissioner for Cubs, and on District Service Team. She has taken Part II Gilwell training for Pack, Service Team training, training and development courses, and has given training on both a local and provincial level. In receiving the Medal of Merit, Mary said that it was a great honour and she was 'overwhelmed' at the Boy Scouts of Canada for making the presentation to her. She said she had been working for 36 years with the boys and since she would hate to give it up so she will continue to work with the service team.
