After clos ing of the Chapter, a happy social hour was held Refreshments were served by convenor Doris Not: tingham, Minnie Fisher and Karel Nottingham Caesarea Card Party The Wednesday evening euchre was held in the Caesarea Centre with the following first prize win- ners: First- Henry Visser with a dandy score of 98. Second- Faith Lawrence with a very good score as well- 85. Low- Owen Gray with 59. A better turnout. Try to be supportive - the Ladies Auxiliary are working hard to raise funds to renovate the Centre. A good deal has been ac- complished but not completed yet. Keep in mind the pot luck supper for the euchre players, which will be held Wednesday, December 11th at 7 p.m. in the Community Centre. Bring along your favourite casserole and have an evening of enjoy ment Blackstock & District Lions Club C.N.I.B. Drive Successful The local Lions Club have just completed their 1985 canvass for C N.1.B. and the proceeds amounted to over $1500 - a httle under last year. The Club wish to thank the generous folk of Cartwright for their liberal donations. The Lions Club is a world-wide organization, and are to be commended for their dedica- tion re- worthy causes. Another fine project they have undertaken is the dog training school in Oakville, where the Seeing-Eye dogs are trained. This school was opened Saturday, November 9th, and several people from the club attend- ed the official opening ceremony at the school Those attending from the local Lions Club were: Lion Don and Lioness Chris Chiff and family, Lion Merlin and Dora Suggitt, Lion Er- nie Swain, Lion Chiff and Lioness Evelyn Trapp, Lion Pat and Lioness Jean Porrill, and Dan and Elaine Porrill from B.C. The opening ceremonies took place in a large tent. Lions were present from St. John, Newfoundland to Vancouver, B C and from three U.S A States Past International President Kveratt Grindstaff was the honoured guest and made the of- ficial opening. After the ribbon cut- ting - coffee and lunch was served Ef Ontario Chairman ez STANDING COMMITTEE ON PROCEDURAL AFFAIRS AND AGENCIES, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS comment on the above noted subject in the school Nestleton United Church On a cool Sunday, Nestleton United had an average attendance Welcoming at the door were Chris Davis, Scott, Carleton and friend Michael Postma. Rev. Dale Davis presented a thought provoking ser- mon entitled "Rules! Rules! Rules!" Taken from Scripture Deuteronomy 6: 1-9 and Matthew 22 34-40, read by student minister Verna Windrem. She also told the Sunday School an interesting story. The Junior choir sang beautifully "You Know Lord" led by Janice MacKenzie with Betty Headon at the piano. Next Sunday will be Ad- vent [ - try to attend. Court Lady Snowbird 1.1930 Tea and Bazaar A Tremendous Success The 19th annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar held by the members of the Court Lady Snowbird L.1930 this past week at the Nestleton Centre proved to be a great success. Anne Lee extended a warm welcome to the capacity crowd on hand for the once a year event. Entertainment for the evening under the direction of Niki Bardeleben of the village of Nestleton who presented the play, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' recruited the youngsters of the com- munity to take part in the play and each one did exceptionally well. Sincere thanks to the young fry for the fine entertainment. A number of Christmas Carols were sung much to the enjoyment of those present. The bazaar was officially opened by Elaine Bailey of Blackstock. In her remarks, Elaine mentioned some of the worthwhile projects re- charities which the Court members are concerned about and the support given each year. The great array of delicious baking, fancy sewing, knit- ting and crochet work was nicely displayed on tables. The Penny sale was a decided success. Te , coffee, juice and an assortment ¢f loaves were enjoyed at the tea lables. Members of the Court wish to thank everyone who support the event year after year - the support given helps them to help others. A Merry Christmas to all. Nestleton Presbyterian Church At the Nestleton Presbyterian Church with Dorothy McCabe play- ing the organ nicely, Rev. Fred Swann used Psalm 84 and Luke 1: 26-38 - speaking on a series of Spiritual Gifts of Christmas. Last week he spoke on Faith and this week he used Obedience. He ended with a quote "Obedience is Faith geared up to go" which tied it all in together A fine group ot children out for Sunday School Elder George Scott hit the first candle for the ap proach of Advent, and a service was held Next Sunday for a fine service Church calendars are for sale - not too many left Cartwright Cubs & Scouts Projects The Cartwright Cubs and Scouts are having a Christmas cake drive, running for a month commencing November 25th. Light or dark cake available - made by a local bakery For information call 986-5350. The Boy Scouts paper drive is the first Saturday in the month - next one December 7th. Please have your papers bundled and at your driveway for pickup. Family Interests Visiting the Cawker farmstead on Sunday afternoon were Rob Smith, Bruna Lazarich, Curtis Cawker and Christine Kidd of Oshawa. Curt brought back his All-Terrain cycle and livend up the area for an hour or so travelling about. Good to see the young folks. Makes life worth living! Very sorry to hear that a good friend Olive Heaslip of Port Perry is in hospital, the last news we had. Trust she is feeling much improved in health. Our thoughts and prayers are with her. Cards and a call from friends.would be welcome. Neta Fish of Nestleton spent a lovely weekend with son Calvin and Yvonne Holland and family in Bowmanville. Keith and Rhonda Bannister were also visitors with their newly born daughter- Nicole Ashleigh Marie, and Neta had the pleasure of holding her great grand- daughter for a couple of hours. We wish Keith and Rhonda well, just starting out with their little family. Congratulations to parents and great grandmother, Neta. Caesarea Community Church A very nice congregation on Sun- day with Daniel Pugh Jr., taking the Responsive reading and the Scrip- ture. Rev. Dr. W.H.
