14 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 26, 1985 All excited about Santa Claus Seagrave and Area News by Marilyn Beacock last Sunday my niece, Annette Foster of Port Perry along with .Craig and | attended the Metro Toronto Santa Claus Parade which 1s cefebrating its 80th anniversary this year The spectacularly beautiful and imaginative floats that covered a distance of at least a mile and a half kept the thousands of people along the parade route In a continuous state of awe and excite ment. | admit to being as totally captivated as the kids when it comes to Christmas festivities and especially Santa Claus parades We're really looking forward to the Port Perry S.C. parade which will be held this Saturday, November 30. It certainly is one of the best around and much of that credit must be forwarded to the creative and ambitious individuals and groups who design and enter the floats and also to the many bands who travel quite a distance to inject a bit of Christmas music in the air and last but not least the organizers and merchants who make it all possible. A big thank you from one who truly appreciates your efforts' The Greenbank Public School cor- dally invites you to attend their first ever Christmas Bazaar which will be held from 10:00 a m until 2:00 p m at the Greenbank Centenmal Hall this Saturday, November 30. A delicious assortment of yummy home-made pastries, breads and confections as well as decorative and useful crafts will be offered for sale. This 1s to be the main fund- raising project for the school and proceeds from this bazaar will be used to purchase items such as bars for acadamic and sports achievements to help defray the cost of school trips etc Please try to sup- port this event -- you won't be disappointed' Welcome home to Mrs Gertie Wanamaker who recently returned from an enjoyable bus trip to California. We missed you Gertie and it's nice to have you back home In Seagrave again. We were sorry to learn of the passing of Mr. Wm. Pearson Sr. recently and we extend our sym- pathy to his son Bill at this time. We also wish to express our apprecia- tion to his family for the beautiful bouquet of flowers which were in the sanctuary in his memory We also extend our sincere sym- pathy to several other folks in our community who have recently lost loved ones -- Mr Cliff Billings whose brother passed away quite suddenly and to Mr. and Mrs. LLawrence Carr whose father (Mr. Carr) passed away rather suddenly. Our sympathy is also extended to the family of a well-known former citizen of Greenbank, the late Mr. Ernest Till, who passed away following a lengthy illness. Wednesday, November 27 begin- ning at 6:30 p.m. at Conway Place in Port Perry our annual Fellowship Sister dinner will take place. The committee have really out-done themselves this year in the line of entertainment so be sure to be there and please don't forget your gift for your Fellowship Sister. See you there! Birthday greetings to Enid Belair and Mildred Puckrin who deposited some change in the birthday box at church on Sunday. The U.C.W. will meet at the home of Gertie Wanamaker on Wed. Dec. 4. If you have any questions but are unable to attend the Open House, please contact your Regional Assessment Office at the address or telephone number shown below Assessment Notice Property owners and tenants will receive an Assessment Notice only if information regarding their property or assessment was changed during the past year, if the assessment was appealed last year, or if the property has been reassessed under section 63 of the Assessment Act If you receive an Assessment Notice. it may reflect changes you have requested in your school support designation, in the amount Assessment Review Board. The Assess- ment Review Board conducts informal hearings and is responsible for determining whether the assessment under appeal is fair and equitable with the assessments of similar properties in the vicinity or neighbourhood, and may alter your assess- ment accordingly. Don and I attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Lena Davis of Ux- bridge on Saturday. Mrs. Davis fought a valiant battle with a ter- minal disease for several years and as a result her determination and strength were an inspiration to all who knew her Our svmpathy is ex- tended to her daughter Mrs. Vivian Rodd and two sons, Mervin and Kenneth Davis and families. The Young Peoples group enjoyed having dinner out on Sunday and en- joyed a visit to the McLaughlin Planetarium in Toronto. Many thanks to Rev. Saunders at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Saunders. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Saunders, Bruce and Brenda of Scarborough, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Heayn of Blackstock, Mrs. Heather Colbourne, Danny and Laurie of Oshawa, Mr. Dave Saunders, Pen- ny and Brent of Newmarket, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Saunders, Gary James and Gregory of Oshawa, Michael and Melinda of Utica. Pic- tures were taken of Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Saunders with their family and 10 grandchildren. White Gift service this week at the United Church. Service will be held at 11:15 a.m. in Utica. Mildred Thompson and Phyllis Clarke were Sunday dinner guests with Mr. aad Mrs. Don Lee and family at Woodville. Friday euchre winners were Ladies 1st- Verna Draper, 2nd- Bea Harrison and low was Bernice Wells. Men's 1st- Irwin Kydd, 2nd- William Brown and low was Phyllis Clarke. Freeze-out winners were Grant Bright and Verna Smith with Elva Kydd and Margaret Gall se- cond. There will be another euchre in two weeks. Earl and Irene Fielding, Frank and Linda Fielding and girls were Sunday supper guests with Bill and Donna in Oshawa Eileen Slute enjoyed a trip to Perth and Lanark on Thursday by bus which was put on by an Ashburn group On Saturday.
