All those who let their names stand for office deserve congratulations. And now that we know who the winners are. it's ime to get on with the business for which they were elected Letters Democracy at work Dear Sir: I would hke at this time to offer my congratulations to the people who were elected to council To those who were not elected, con- gratulations for having the courage to put your name and offer your ser- vice to the taxpayer. November 15, marked the opening of this year's pre-Christmas offering by the Borelians. "The Lit tle Prince = The fantasy will appeal to the children. but the deeper message will appeal to all age groups The production crew this year deserves particular credit "When Burbage played the stage wag bare," but I'm sure he would have appreciated this spectacular set To see just this 1s worth the ad- mission, but adding to this ""fantasy- etherial" effect are the special ef- fects, the lighing effects, the sound and especially the costuming. The costume portrayal of the snake, the bird. and the roses, are particular- ly immaginative. The whole effect 1s to add an almost fourth dimension of timelessness to the setting which ties in very effectively to the timelessness of the underlying message of the play. The entire cast has done a very creditable job portraying their roles. Monica Franssen as the Lit- tle Prince plays a very demanding role and does it well. Very energetic performances were presented by key cameo roles by Maija Ham- mett, Adele Armstrong and David Ellis. Chris Rollo, Stephanie Butt and James Dyer also performed well in their roles of the Snake, the Bird, and the Pilot respectively. The Borelians have always tried to make the production relate to the young, and to this end, Lynn Korbak directed the group of Diana Bengel. Ehzabeth Connell, Jennifer Geer, Allie Nolan, Kim Rollo and Lee Rollo, as the 'rose garden." These youngsters will hopefully become more involved in other community plays in the future. Again, with this DOG GROOMING by Marylynn wie) 263-8527 formerly ™Me Dope Salon in mind the program announced the two bursary winners this year presented to two graduating students who will be continuing their education in the performing arts They are Michael Taylor (PPHS). and Michael W McDiarmid (CHS) In all. this years play 1s a much more polished and professional presentation which will interes) young and old alike The play 1s good and is well acted by the cast. but it is the setting and the special effects particularly that make this show a worthwhile tip for the whole family.
