The team now has five defeats, four wins and one tie after ten games. On Saturday night in Little Bri- tain, the Mojacks could not muster much offense as they went down to defeat 3-2 at the hands of the Mer- chants who picked up their first vic- tory this season. And on Sunday night at the Scugog Arena, it was the defense that fell apart as the visiting Lakefield Chiefs pinned a 10-6 loss on the MoJacks. In Little Britain, the MoJacks got off to a quick start with a pair of goals early in the first period by Clay Dempsey and Mark Goreski. But late in the second, the Mer- chants began chipping away and Bucky Adams made it 2-1 at the 18:54 mark. The third period was just over five minutes old when Tim Siddle got the equalizer and less than a minute later Jerry Kea scored what proved to be the game winner. Paul Goreski in the nets for the MoJacks kicked out 26 shots, while the MoJacks fired 31 shots at Rob Lightle. It was a big win for the Mer- chants coming off a 7-1 thumping the previous night at the hands of the Lindsay Muskies. The game was tied 2-2 at this point and MoJack captain Brian Nicholson took the penalty shot. Nicholson moved right in on Steve Howard in the Chief net but fired the puck high and wide. Less than two minutes later, the Chiefs took a 3-2 lead and never looked back. For the visitors, Rob Gilders was a one-man wrecking crew as he hit for two goals and four assists. Mike Terpsta notched a pair and chipped in with three assists. The one bright spot for the Mo- Jacks on the scoring sheet was An- dy Sutch who had one goal and four assists. Sutch scored a nifty goal early in the third period as he was sent in alone by Jeff Johnstone at the 19 second mark. That made the score 6-3 and it looked like the Mo- Jacks might have the makings of a come-back. But the Chiefs continued to deploy a strong skating and passing attack, and had little difficulty protecting their big lead. Other goal sgorers for the Mo- Jacks were Chris Nicholson, Brad Flaxman, Brian Nicholson, and Rob Sedore who clicked for a pair. Sedore turned in a pretty good two way performgnce along the blue line for the MoJacks. Penalties played a big role in this game as the MoJacks were called for 16 minors and the Chiefs for 16 as well. Belles Ringette team travell- ed to Iroquois Park Arena to play the Whitby Belles. Although the girls came away on the losing end of a 4-2 score they played a strong game. Whitby scored all of their goals in the first ten minutes of the game, at which point our girls seemed to come alive Port Perry got on the board with a goal by Anne Finch on a pass from Tina Soomre and Denise Tomkins. In the second period Tina scored unassisted for Ports other goal that counted. Having only nine players meant that the girls had to play more than one position which they did well Lori Newell, Stephanie Whitehead, and Vicki Reid all skated a good game keeping the play around the Whitby goal as much as possible.
