Elyse Susanne, daughter of Susan and John Thomson, Darryl William, son of Sharon and Eric Goulding. and Robert Scott, son of Ingrid and Dave Larmer Rev DD David preached a thoughful sermon entitl ed "Seeing It Through Heather and Grant Mcl.aughhn and Carla hosted a noon dinner in honour of Abby and Michael Dickson's baptisms. Guests for this family gathering were Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Dickson, Bruce and Marilyn Dickson, Nancy and Bill Dickson and Michael all of Burlington, Mrs. EE. Harris, Mrs Jean Mahaffy, Dalton and Kathleen Dorrell, Leanne and Jim Wills, Laura and Emily of Belleville, Janis and Glenn McCoy and Kaitlin, Neil and Kathy McLaughlin, Alex and Jessica, Rev and Mrs. D Davis. Abby, like several other members of the fami- ly wore the handmade christening dress and shp worn by her great grandmother, Mrs. Isabel Wright, who 1s 87 years old. John and Susan Thomson and Jocelyn had as their luncheon guests Mrs Lillian Nott, Mr. Fred Richardson, Prince Albert, Mrs Mildred Thomson of Greenbank in honour of their daughter Elyse's baptism. Dave and Ingrid Larmer enter- tained 1n honour of Robert's bap- tism Guests at the family gathering were Mrs. Eber Snowden, Bowman- ville, Mrs. Schaad, Nova Scotia, Michael Schaad, Guelph, Mr and Mrs Ralph Larmer, John Larmer, New Brunswick John Larmer has spent several days with his parents, Ralph and Peggy L.armer, and other relatives while in Ontario attending the Royal Winter Fair and several cattle sales The annual Central Ontario Trac: tor Pullers' Association banquet and dance was held on Saturday evening in the Blackstock Recreation Cen- tre After the dehcious dinner the many awards for the points won during the 1985 circuit were presented Local winners included Earle Trewin, Marlene Bray and Mark Graham This year Earle Trewin was voted the most courteous puller and received the Blair Graham Memorial Trophy. The evening con- cluded with a dance. The Davidson Mixed Curling Bonspiel will be held on Saturday, December 7 at the local rink. There will be a banquet and dance to con- clude the days activities. Openings are available for local curlers now. For further information call Dale or Janet Van Camp or sign up at the rink. Muriel Wotten will be showing her pictures of her trip to Australia on Friday, November 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend this travelogue which is sponsored by the [..O.B A. Lunch will be served. Glad to report that Henry Wotten 1s home recovering from his heart problems which put him in Oshawa Hospital. On November 13 the two Blackstock 4-H Homemaking clubs held a joint meeting when they in- vited their mothers and the members of the Womens Institute for the evening. Mrs. Berry gave a most interesting cake decorating demonstration and had the girls practise different decorating techni- ques. When this was finished Mrs. Berry decorated a large cake which was raffled off and won by Mrs. Marjorie Green. Harold Medd who is now the President of the Durham District of One-Parent Family Association of Canada attended the Convention in Ottawa last Saturday and Sunday. The Blackstock Co-op Nursery School held its regular meeting on November 12 with a good atten- dance. There are now 80 children and 72 mothers in the school with 4 openings. A committee made up of Judy Bonsma, Darlene Keeler, Reginia Walker, Sue Carson, Anne Lane, Ellen Lamb and Connie Stephenson was set up to arrange the children's Christmas Party on December 20 at 9:00. Much planning was done on the Pancake Breakfast with Santa to be held on December 8 from 9-1. The policy in the winter for snow days is as follows. If the public school buses are not running, nursery school will be closed. The next meeting will be on December 10 in the form of a Wine and Cheese Party. There will also be a display of Creative Fun for Little Ones. Many of our local residents have been involved in one way or another with the annual Royal Winter Fair which has been held the past two weeks. Congratulations to the many local exhibitors who won so many prizes. Ingrid and Dave Larmer and baby Robert have been pleased to have as their guest for a few days Ingrid's mother, Mrs. Schaad from Nova Scotia. Choral Society scampers down memory lane soon Now that election fever has died down, for all folks old and young who enjoy nostalgia (and even those who don't) hit show tunes, and a touch of something lively and new, the Scugog Choral Society 1s presenting its fall concert at Town Hall 1873 on November 28,29 and 30th. Entitled 'Down Memory Lane', this fall show includes a wide varie- ty of toe-tapping, hummable tunes, and will invite the audience to sing along with some of the songs. Solos, duets and specialty numbers are featured in the programme, and the brand new Ihck Millar duo will have its premiere Also included are several memorable Broadway medleys. some from earlier shows performed at the Hall, offering a superb chance for the audience to hear favourite melodies encored Remember Fiddler.
