Helen Hortop chaired the meeting. The theme of the Devotional period was "Peace." Agreement was received on distribution of the present assets. There was also a motion to donate $50 towards the purchase of a Handi- Transit Van for physically han- dicapped within the Township area, as all organizations are being re- quested to make a commitment. After the business was taken care of, we settled down to enjoy the slides and travelogue of China, as presented by Doreen Adam, Betty Reader and Marion Carter. We also enjoyed seeing the many souvenirs that were out on display. As an added treat, we shared Chinese confections and fortune cookies as well as many amusing anecdotes. There will be no customary meeting in December, but are look- ing forward to the Mystery Sister Supper, November 27th at 6:30 p.m, when the year's mysteries will be revealed and gifts between $4 and $5 will be exchanged. This Saturday should be a big day at the Island Church and the Com- munity Hall. At the Church at 11:30 a.m. the ladies of 'Grace' U.C.W. will have a hot luncheon prepared for you. The charge of $4 is their ef- fort to raise their donation towards the Handi-Transit Van for the area. They will appreciate your co- operation in this project. However, before you are ready for a hot lunch, you may wish to go to the Community Hall at 11:00 a.m. where there will be another group of women who belong to the Women's Auxiliary of the Island Scout move- ment. Here they will have a bake and craft sale and that will continue until 2:00 p.m. Perhaps you could pick your baked goods first, and come back for the crafts, if you are rushed. Don't forget Elders and Stewards meet this Wednesday evening at the Island United at 8:00 p.m. Next Sunday, we'll again be pleas- ed to hear a new resident from Nicaragua who will tell us their ex- periences in the last year since we met him before at the Island United. The Sunday service at the Island United was much appreciated and reminded us of the meaning attach- ed to "Remembrance Day == Two members of our congregation- John Sweetman and Alan Carter, had many memories and experiences of their service and both took part in the special service in Port Perry It was therefore fitting that Irene Carter place a wreath at an ap- propriate point of the Island service. & BAKERY (jreenbank (d lo) 98S. 2d le Something a little different try the TEA ROOM OPEN FRI, SAT, SUN.
