Sunday morn- ing after a night of freezing rain all the trees were a glitter with a coat of ice. Winter is here to stay! Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hancock visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pheonix on Sunday. The Greenbank Gamblers Fast Ball Club will wind up their most successful season ever, with a Hot Beef Banquet in the Greenbank Church basement on Saturday, November 23rd. Anyone wishing to join the team at their victory celebration will be most welcome. Tickets can be ob- tained from Rodd Foster or Clifford Rodd. Mrs. Betty Stone, Mrs. Roberta Baird and Helen McKean attended the 83rd Convention of the Central Ontario Area Women's Institute at the Royal York Hotel. The theme this year was 'International Youth Year." 331 women attended with Mr. Kenneth Knox, the guest speaker. We were saddened to hear of the death of Mrs. Frank Vivian. Our sympathy goes out to all of her family. Junior choir practise will be cancelled on the 13th but will be held Wednesday 20th. Children please be present as the choir will sing at the White Gift Sunday 24th. Communion Sunday is on the 17th. Peter Stone and his friend Cheryl Francis were home this weekend from Waterloo University. Mrs. Muriel Gibson and daughter Nancy Lehman and niece Mavis Pelletier attended the Herongate Theatre Friday evening. Seagrave Church. Once again the turkey supper was a great success CHS commencement on a rainy night (From page 18) Lewerentz, and Danny Russell received the U. A.W. Bursary. Lynn Bazarin and Lynn McLaughlin received the Universi- ty of Guelph Entrance Scholarships while Bryon Read received the University of Western Ontario En- trance Scholarship. Lynn McLaughlin also was presented with the University Women's Club of Oshawa and District Scholarship. The Track and Field Awards were: Girls- Midget- Lee Bayley; Junior- Natalie Green; Senior- Carol Lewerentz; Boys- Midget- Shawn Vine; Junior- Craig Hudson; Senior- Lionel deKnecht and Preston Denault. The Ookpiks received the House Competition Trophy. Mrs. Turner presented the Duke of Edinburgh Awards to: Gold- Dawn Bayley; Silver- Tara Bailey, Natalie Green, Elaine Kelly, Bronze- Julie Byers; Esther Kelly, Shannon Turnbull. The W.W. Van Camp family and the Rotary Club of Port Perry both made presentations to the school after which the Student's Council presented the Honour Award plaques. Anne-Marie Hoogeveen introduc- ed her classmate Allen Hudson, who resplendent in his scarlet uniform of the R.M.C. delivered a fine valedic- tory address. The School Choir concluded the evening's programme with two fine musical selections. This choir was led by Mr. R. Ashton. Following the conclusion of the programme, a large number en joyed refreshments at the Cart wright High School and was a sell-out thanks to a real community effort. The Seagrave UCW will meet this Wednesday evening November 13th at 8:00 at the home of Mrs. Margaret Hunter. The UCW ladies wish to thank everyone who donated items to the bazaar and bake sale and also to those who contributed their time at the bazaar and bake tables on November 6. Next Sunday at the Seagrave Church will be the Sacrament of the Lord Supper at 9:30 a.m. The fellowship sister supper will be held November 27th at 6:30 at Conway Place in Port Perry. Please purchase your tickets, $12.50 per person for the meal and entertain- ment, from the Seagrave Store, Isabel Vernon c/o Dan Forder In- surance or from any member of the committee. We would appreciate if you could purchase your tickets by the end of this week as we have to advise the restaurant of how many will be attending.
