Guest speaker will be Rev. Ainsley Tucker. Plan to attend to pay your respects to those who ensured our freedom many years ago. Many Cartwright residents took advantage of the All Candidates Meeting on Wednesday evening to hear and meet the candidates for Scugog Township. On Thursday evening, November 7, the five can- didates for the two trustees will be at an Open Meeting at the R.H. Cornish School at 7:30 p.m. The public is welcome to hear each of us speak and answer questions. It is another good opportunity to become better informed. Plan to attend. Election Day will be here before another edition of this column so you are urged to make the effort to get to the Poll on November 12 and make your choice. This Saturday evening will be the annual Commencement Exer- cises of Cartwright High School at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. It is always an evening of great in- terest to parents, friends and for- mer graduates. This Friday the Commencement of Port Perry High School involved many of our families. Congratulations to all of the graduates. Ken Whitehead has taken over as Fuller Brush Representative for our area. If Ken has not called on you yet he will be doing so in the very near future. In the meantime should you wish any information please call him at 986-4274. On Saturday evening Laurie Hart was the guest of honour for a Fiftieth Birthday party hosted by his wife Bonnie and his family. Relatives and friends from various points as well as near by came to make the event a happy one. Hap- py Birthday Laurie. Mary and Larry Mackie held a successful sale on Saturday in preparation to moving from Blackstock to their farm in Man- vers. They will be greatly missed. The patronage was truly appreciated by the ladies as the proceeds will be used as part of their committed donation to furnish an apartment at the new Leader Dog School in Oakville. This new school is being built and furnished through the ef- forts of Lions and Lioness Clubs. Our thanks to the community for: your support of this as well as our previous requests for support and assistance. The Bus Trip on Friday to shop- ping outlets in Toronto was a great success. Much Christmas shopping was accomplished at bargain prices. The Anniversary Service was held on Sunday at the Blackstock United Church with special music provided by the Senior Choir, the Junior Choir and the recently reformed Men's Choir.
