It's very un- comfortable writing minutes over my briefcase on my lap Maybe some of these gentlemen better stop and think of our members who own homes in this area, some with no boys playing hockey, who assist in maintaining this facility, and keep the cost of hockey down by paying our taxes As one of the associations using this facility, we also put in our help with the fund raising elimination dance/draws We don't get a reduc: ed rate on the ice but pay prime rates, and we use 3 straight hours of ice where the zamboni doesn't have to come out and scrape the ice thus reducing costs If some of these people came to see us they might change their at- titudes, as we don't like being put on the back burner and forgotten about Oh, and by the way | a large dog. Yesterday's Memories (From page 5) 10 YEARS AGO Wednesday, October 29, 1975 Scugog Township dog owner, John Greenwood approached coun- cil asking for them to drop the dog tag fee for his pet. He claims his 16 year old 3'. pound Chihuahua shouldn't be charged the same as Scugog Shores Museum are looking for another Museum curator to replace retiring curator Ailene Kane. Board chairman Allan Ber- trand praised Mrs. Kane saying she's done an outstanding job. It was announced that a Photomat outlet will be the newest te- nant at the new Port Perry Plaza on Scugog Street. _ Ei iL JA ' IT'S BACK ... because YOU WANTED IT! '. SPECIA ... and IT'S OUR ANNIVERSARY too! gentlemen, we have the committee room booked as of now for a 3:00 meeting on the date of Sunday, November 24 Yours in Sports, D C Dalton, Sect. PPBA, Pres. - B. Smith and Executive members. Hallowe'en Dear Sir: Halloween is a fun time of the year for both the young children and their parents. Why does Halloween have to be associated with the acts of vandalism created by the older "children?" Halloween isn't even here yet, but the vandalism has already started. Early Sunday morning between 2 AM and 6 AM, my young sister's pumpkins were removed from our patio, and smashed all over the yard and sidewalk. They're priced to on fun times but Region bans dumping of pathological waste Durham Region council last week strengthened its stand against the dumping of pathological waste at the Metro Toronto landfill site in Pickering. The dumping of waste from hospitals, clinics and labs is forbid- den by agreement between Metro and the Region, but last week, the Regional council by a vote of 28-0 agreed to a by-law banning this kind of material from the dump site. prankster I have never heard of something like this happening before the night of Halloween in Port Perry. It was not only very upsetting to my little sister, but to my mother and I as well We don't work hard for our money to have someone throw it away like that. To the person that dampened my sister's fun, HAPPY HALL- OWEEN! L.. Jackson, Port Perry. During the meeting last week, Regional chairman Gary Herrema said. that recently pathological waste from five different Metro Toronto Hospitals has been dumped on three occasions. He added that the Region now has an inspector at the site on a regular basis. Officials from the Region schedul- ed a meeting with hospital staff to reach an agreement on this issue. While council endorsed the by-law ban on pathological waste dumping, Pickering councillor Nora Stoner warned that this kind of dumping is just a small part of the problems at the Metro operated dump. She told the council she has proof that many illegal substances such as paints and solvents are being dumped there. In a related move, the Regional council also passed a resolution to urge Metro Toronto to bring in a multi-material curb side re-cycling system in an effort to reduce the amount of garbage going in to the dump. Such a re-cycling system for household garbage is now in place in four Durham municipalities. - \ OCCASION XX YW Hallowe'en Bouquet - SPECIAL - For that Special Ghost or Goblin! .
