16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, October 16, 1985 Bridge club celebrates anniversary [== Just a year ago with hope and some trepidation, a few brave peo- ple promoted the formation of a Duplicate Bridge Club in Port Perry. After the first meeting, Oc: tober 30th, 1984, they never looked back! This was only possible through the interest and generosity of the Kroonenbergs of Emiel's Place, who donated the use of their Banquet Room for the Club- Tuesdays, afternoon and evenings With mixed emotions, the Club decided they should no longer 1m- pose on the Kroonenbergs, so have rented the Prince Albert Hall on Wednesdays for this year's play. All the Club members are indeed grateful to the Kroonenbergs for their generous support, and will look back with nostalgia on their first year of bridge in the cosy surroun- dings at Emiel's Place. President Peter Francis and his enthusiastic executive are planning an interesting season, with a day for "An Introduction to Duplicate," perhaps some competitions, and possibley a social evening. Watch the Port Perry Star for weekly play results, and further developments. In the meantime, visitors and pro- spective members are welcome Wednesdays at Prince Albert Hall at 12:45 pm. and 7:15 p.m Coffee and tea are available Director Harold Brown, friendly and relax- ed, makes everyone feel immediate ly at home The annual membership fee 1s $5.00, and daily playing charges of $150 per member, or $2 00 for visitors. Who knows, a potential Ely Culbertson or Charles Goren could be lurking in our midst to make Port Perry prominent in the world of Bridge! WHITBY-OSHAWA HONDA 1110 Dundas St. East - Whithy, Oat.
