Later dessert and coffee added the final touch to an ex- cellent meal. An entertaining even- ing was in store. The talented, humorous Emcee Alan Cawker made the affair special and stole the show. He surely missed his calling - he should have been an entertainer. Later philosopher Sam (as he is called) commented re the family. Members were present at this love- ly party from Toronto, Collingwood, Richmond Hill, Sudbury, Waterloo, Oshawa, Manchester, Nestleton and Port Perry. Very sorry some were unable to attend - we missed you folks! Nestleton Presbyterian Church An average congrega- tion on Sunday morning. Good to have Rev. Fred Swann back from a six weeks holiday. He led with discussion on John 3: 1-18, using as his theme "Back to basics - in Education - in Religion - in personal living." An excellent sermon. Mrs. Scott - organist. Norma Frew. brought the meeting to order with a cordial welcome, the W.I. Ode and Mary Stewart Col- lect, followed by an ap- propriate reading. The roll call -"From where do you trace your faghily roots?' brought forth many interesting answers. Gwen Malcolm acted as Sec'y-Treas. in the absence of Marg. France. During cor- respondence invitations were rec'd from Bowmanville Branch for Oct. 3, held in Trinity Church, and Durham West District Anniver- sary for Oct. 23 to be held at Solina. Members are asked to take part in the programme. Both invita- tions were accepted. The Motto - *'The fami- ly scene - is it chang- ing?"" was spoken on by Kay Pickard, Convener of Family and Consumer Affairs. So nice to have a time of visiting with Ken. Nestleton United Church On Sunday morning with a fair attendance Rev. Dale Davis presented a timely message entitled **'Walk- ing....or Wading?' with Scripture from Matthew 14: 22-33 and Luke 13: 10-17. In the responsive reading Regenia Walker read the part of the Lay -leader taken from Psalm 69. The choir sang, "Blessed Assurance' led by Gwendolyn Malcolm - organist. The minister told an interesting story to the young fry. Offering was received by Ralph Sadler and Norm Mairs. Greeting at the door were Yvonne Priebe and Joelle and Nursery helpers were Chris Davis and Claire MacKenzie. The Nestleton Sunday School will resume fall activities next Sunday, Sept. 15. The General UCW meeting will be held at the church this coming Wed. Sept. 11, with Anita Davis special speaker - Topic - Social Issues. Sympathy Extended We regret very much the passing of a good neighbour and staunch friend in the person of Arthur Cox, Port Perry, who died during the past weekend very suddenly.
