Graduate George Burnett, son of Jim and MaryLou Burnett of R.R.3, Ux- bridge, has recently graduated from McGill University in Montreal, with a Bachelor of Education Degree, ma- joring in Physical Education. George has accepted a position with the Durham Board of Education at R.H. Cor- nish Public School in Port Perry. Allen and Beth Martyn are a good pair of travellers and recently went to the Chautauqua area in New York State with Mrs. Wm. Doupe of Seattle, Washington and spent some time with her son David and his fami- ly. Later they travelled on to the Southampton and Tobermory area with Wayne and Joanne Bretham and family of Peterborough. The summer is moving on and we realize plans must be started for Sept. like school, Sunday School and Fall fairs. The Ashbridges of Con. 6 E on the south turn will have their sale of house furnishings on Sat. Aug. 24, starting about 10:30 A.M. The "Head"" U.C.W. ladies will sell refreshments. We are pleased to know the Ashbridges will not be leaving the road where they have lived, for many years but will move into a new house on a well chosen site on the present farm. At one time that road was quite isolated but not anymore.
