| TT" eR TA Blackstock Area News by Joyce Kelly Mrs. Kenneth Samells spent a few days last week = visiting two cousins, Mrs. Florence Hickson and Mrs. Soph Hickson, both of the Lindsay area. Pleased to report that Mrs. Elva Toms is hop- ing to soon be home from her stay in Port Perry Hospital. The Annual Werry Clan Picnic was held on Saturday noon at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. The members enjoyed a hot pot luck dinner at noon followed by an afternoon of sports, games and visiting. An enjoyable day for those able to attend. On Sunday Cindy and Dennis Werry hosted a family gathering in honour of Robert's third birthday. Attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Percy VanCamp, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Van- Camp, Miss Aileen Van- Camp, Barry VanCamp, Deb VanCamp, and Jay VanCamp, Mrs. W.G. Bowles, Port Perry, Jim and Leanne O'Donnell, Kitchener and Scott Howie. Blackstock Women's Institute met at the Town Hall on July 3rd. Presi- dent Edith McLaughlin welcomed everyone and thanked the many visitors who came to make the programme worthwhile. Harold and Dora Martyn took everyone on a trip through Holland where they went to celebrate the Second World War Armistice. They had a good time and told how the Dutch were so thankful to be freed by the Canadian soldiers as well as how well they were received for this special celebration. Harold and Dora showed pictures of hyacinth and tulip fields and of the big flower auction. The Roll Call was answered with memories of War Years which brought back some of the inconveniences during that era. On August 7 the Women's Institute will be going by bus to Lindsay for lunch and the theatre to celebrate our 70th an- niversary. The meeting closed with O Canada. Then everyone ei joyed a social time over lunch and coffee. My apolgies to W.I. reporter Helen Bradburn for the delay in the reporting of this meeting. The July O.N.O meeting was held at Barb Byer's home Trivial Pursuit questions were fun. When eveyone arrived the June minutes were read and approved followed by the Treasurer's report. The swimming pro- gram is almost over and it was agreed that all has gone well this year Plans for the 35th An- niversary celebration are well underway for October 19th. Roll Call was a funny O.N.O. memory or my best summer memory and was well answered by everyone most of whom were comfortably wearing pyjamas, night gowns and housecoats. Barb served a delicious dessert luncheon while -everyone enjoyed a social time. September meeting will be at Karen Swanston's home. Charlie and Erma Primer, Hamilton, were weekend guests of Hec- tor and May Shortridge and also visited Jennie and Frank Bailey. On Thursday evening Lorne and Maxine Hoskin attended the 26th wedding anniversary party of their son Allyn and his wife Bev Hoskin at their home in Bowmanville. Quite a number from this area attended the annual Oshawa-Whitby Fair. Of interest to the folk of this area is the fact that our own Ivan Cochrane is- the Presi- dent of the Fair. On Saturday Lorne and Maxine Hoskin along with her sister, Mr. and Mrs. George Wilson of Oshawa, attended their nephew's wedding at Sacred Heart Church, Peterborough. The reception for Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Sinclair was held at Rock Haven, Peterborough. During the past week, Merrill and Norma Van- Camp attended the On- tario Federation of Agriculture annual meeting in Kingston. They also visited Bob At- field's parents at their new home in the Ganaro- que area. Winners at the weekly card party on Tuesday evening were: 1. Carl Gimblett - 96; 2. Lorna Swain 89; 3. James Emerten - 84; 4. Dorothy Edwards - 83; 5. Ella Venning - 76, 6. Elva VanCamp 75, Low - Rhoda Larmer. Draws - Clarence Masters, Edna Manns and Betsy Staniland. On Saturday evening Ralph and Isabel Davis of Solina dropped in on L.orne and Maxine Hoskin Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ven- ning of Bolton called on Mrs. Ella Venning and Mr. and Mrs. John Ven- ning on Sunday afternoon. Karen Waters celebrated her sixth bir- thday last week with a number of her httle friends joining with her for an afternoon of games and other birth- day fun. Trent-Severn never the same Prince Albert Area News by Earline Armstrong The Trent Severn Waterways will never be the Same for one whole week. It was invaded by Mr.and Mrs. Lloyd Pereman, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hodgins and Mr. and Mrs. Don Crosier. They all enjoyed the 150 mile cruise by water from Peterborough to Balsam. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olsen are back in Prince Albert after a two week vacation at their cottage at Halls Lake. Their daughter, Shelley, from Toronto and son, Tom, were also with them plus Bev Walters, Halifax, Denis Lamonde from Montreal, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olsen, and Kara and Steve and Jane Hoggard from Ohio. You call that a holiday? Congratulations to Helen and Bill Wozney. They were blessed with another grandson in the early hours of Sunday, July 14. It's a third son for Barb and Mike Mansfield out at Bow- manville, Ontario. Thursday evening saw only 8 tables of euchre played at the Prince Albert Hall. Milner clan gathers Sunday July 14th the descendants of John and Letta Milner held a fami- ly picnic at the home of Ralph and Anne Milner of Brooklin. Helen and Ray Cleaves of St. Catherines and Joyce, Terry and Juanita Chandler of Collingwood attended along with other relatives in this area, a total of 64. We were pleased that Myrtle Miller (a lifelong friend of the Milner fami- ly) was able to attend. Myrtle lived on Scugog Island during her early years. The oldest one present was Cecil Heayn (85), the youngest, Caitlin McTaggart (5 months). We are grateful to Ralph and Anne for their hospitality, allowing us to use their beautiful spacious lawns for ten consecutive years.
