E ain iy Tm ------t, TR a. On Sunday, July 21 at 8:00 P.M. Acappella, a versatile, attractive package con- sisting of four talented young men who will be appearing at the Town Hall 1873 on Sunday evening, July 21, 1985 at 8 p.m. This group gives new meaning to singing unac- companied, creating a sound so full and rich with vibrant harmonies, that one begins to wonder why vocal groups should need accompaniement. Acapella creates an aura of pure delight for its audience. Murray, Weed spraying (From page 1) ting rid of acquatic weeds. "There is no way that people are wasting their money or time," he said in reference to the reduc- ed application rate. 'We (the Ministry) would not do that to people. The stuff (Reglone A) is too expensive," he stated. He did say that Parks Canada, which sprays the navigational channel through Lake Scugog was allowed to apply Reglone A at the rate of 22 litres per hectare. Despite Mr. Carpen- tier"s assurances that Reglone A will work ef- fectively at 11 litres per hectare, the Star has ACAPPELLA IN received complaints from one shore line pro- perty owner who wondered whether the application rate is strong enough to have any real affects. The property owner, who asked not to be iden- tified by name, said the same amount of Reglone A is going into the lake as last year, but it is being used over an area more than twice as large. Meahwhile, in a letter to the editor in this week's Star, questio are being asked about what affect the chemical spraying may have on other acquatic plants in Lake Scugog, specifical- ly wild rice. (see letters page). Richard, Bob and Gary have been friends for a long time, during which they enhanced their musicianship in varied ways. Murray, who has the formal training of the group, sang barbership for eight years and now does all the arranging for Acappella, as well as composing original numbers for the group, including Midnight Lady and Acappella Theme. Gary has sung with rock bands and also happens to be Murray's brother. Richard also sang barbershop for eight years and he and Bob both played guitar with various bands. Fortunately, for their audiences, these four friends put their talents together and formed "Acappella" from their mutual ap- preciation of music and dedication to their craft. They have been ap- pearing in and around Toronto at Cafe on the Park, C.N.E., Club Mainstreet, Cycles Bistro, CHCH TV, CHEX TV and Global TV, and 4 now, Town Hall 1873.
